Drunk on Love is the second extended play by South Korean singer,Ryeowook. It was released by SM Entertainment and Label SJ,and,distributed by Dreamus on January 2,2019. The EP features seven tracks in total,including the lead single,"I'm Not Over You".
After enlisting for his mandatory military service on October 11,2016,Ryeowook was discharged on July 10,2018. [2] He joined Super Junior's fifth world tour Super Show 7 starting from November 2018's Bangkok stop,and his vocals was featured in their first extended play, One More Time . [3]
On November 27,Label SJ announced that Ryeowook will release his second mini album on December 10,this marked Ryeowook's solo release in two years. Pre-release single "One and Only" was released alongside the announcement. [4]
However,the date of the EP's release was pushed back to January 2,2019,after Ryeowook was diagnosed with Influenza A after returning from Bangkok. [5]
On January 2,2019,the EP was officially released alongside the music video of its lead single,"I'm Not Over You". [6]
Drunk on Love has a variety of genres in each song. Ballad tracks were present in lead single "I'm Not Over You",which features a gentle piano melody and melancholic strings in the buildup for its orchestral climax,and the last track,"The 2nd Story". [6] "One and Only" leans toward lounge music. "Something Good",and "Sugar" have noticeable jazz flavors with their own respective identities. "Without You" has an R&B-esque sound with Latin pop melody. [7]
In an interview with The Korea Times ,Ryeowook recounted that he spent a lot of time thinking what musical genre of path he's going to pursue for the album during his conscription. He also stated that he would try writing and composing more songs by himself for his solo work and expressed his wishes for Drunk on Love to serve as the turning point for his solo career. [8]
Ryeowook promoted the EP with a performance of "I'm Not Over You" in Music Bank on January 4. [9]

Writing for the South China Morning Post , Chris Gillett praised Ryeowook's vocals and the variety of genre available but criticized the album as "too safe" instead of trying to stand out. [7]

Super Junior , also known as SJ or SuJu, is a South Korean boy band. The group is composed of Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun. Han Geng, Kibum, and Kangin were originally part of the group before departing in 2011, 2015 and 2019, respectively. The group was formed by the founder of SM Entertainment, Lee Soo-man in 2005 as a 12-piece group with rotational members but the concept was abandoned after addition of Kyuhyun in 2006. They are also dubbed by the media as the "King of Hallyu Wave" due to their contributions in Korean Wave.
Kim Kang-hoon, better known by his stage name Yesung is a South Korean singer, songwriter, actor, radio personality and television presenter. He debuted in 2005 as a member of Super Junior and its subgroups Super Junior-K.R.Y. (2006), Super Junior-H (2008) and participated in SM Entertainment's projects SM The Ballad (2014). Aside from group activities, he has recorded songs for various television dramas and movies, participated in various television dramas, movies, musicals and radio hosting.
Cho Kyu-hyun, referred to as Kyuhyun, is a South Korean singer, musical theatre actor and television host. He debuted as a new member of boy group Super Junior in May 2006. Kim Ryeo-wook, better known by the mononym Ryeowook, is a South Korean singer, songwriter and musical actor. He is best known as a member of boy group Super Junior and its subgroups, Super Junior-K.R.Y. and Super Junior-M. Along with four other Super Junior members, he is one of the first Korean artists to appear on Chinese postage stamps. He began a solo career in 2016 with his first EP The Little Prince.
