Dudleyville is an unincorporated community in Bond County, Illinois, United States. Dudleyville is south of Greenville and near Greenville Airport.

History

A post office was established at Dudleyville in 1861. It remained in operation until 1902. [2] The community was named for John Dudley, the original owner of the town site. [3]

Bond County Community Unit School District 2 is a unified school district based in Greenville, a city located in central Bond County, Illinois that serves as its county seat. Today, the district is composed of five schools; Greenville Elementary School, a NASA Explorer school that serves grades Pre-K through 5; Pocahontas Elementary School, which serves grades Pre-K through 8; Sorento Elementary School, which serves grades K-8; Greenville Junior High School, a school that means to bridge Greenville Elementary and Greenville High by serving grades 6-8; and lastly, Greenville High School, of which all the schools ultimately feed into, serving grades 9-12. Dudleyville, also known as Pittsborough, is an unincorporated community in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, United States. Dudleyville was named for Peter Dudley, who established the first trading post in the area. The town was incorporated on February 2, 1839. A post office was operated in Dudleyville from 1836 to 1907. Major Lemuel Montgomery, the first American soldier killed in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, was formerly buried in the Dudleyville cemetery, before his grave was moved to Horseshoe Bend National Military Park. Abram Mordecai, a trader who installed the first cotton gin in Alabama, lived for a time in Dudleyville. It was here that Albert J. Pickett visited him in 1847 and gathered information from him to use in his History of Alabama. County Line Baptist Church, which is located east of Dudleyville, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
