The College of Business is the business school at East Carolina University. Founded in 1936, and claiming distinction as the second oldest business school in North Carolina, the College houses both undergraduate and graduate students. The College's undergraduate programs were accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 1967, and the College's graduate programs were accredited by the AACSB in 1976. Out of North Carolina's 23 business schools, ten, including ECU, are accredited by the AACSB. It is a part of the GMAC governing body.
The College grants two undergraduate degrees, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management. The College grants two graduate degrees, the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Science in Accounting, as well as opportunities for a dual degree with the Brody School of Medicine. The College places a heavy emphasis on its tight-knit and residential character, and has a student population that hovers over 3,000 students and a full-time faculty of 117.
In 2004, East Carolina became one of the first universities in the United States to offer the MBA completely online. In 2012, East Carolina's online MBA ranked third nationally and first in North Carolina for quality and affordability. [1]
The College of Business was founded in 1936 as the Department of Commerce, with Dr. Elmer Browning was the founding Dean. The department was renamed the School of Business in 1960. In 1967, the College was accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Dr. James Bearden became the School's second Dean in 1968. Under his guidance, the school started the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, which was accredited by the AACSB in 1976. Dr. Bearden also helped to establish the BB&T Center for Leadership Development after BB&T donated over $3 million to the College. Dr. Ernie Uhr became the third Dean in 1983, and under Dr. Uhr's leadership, the School moved from the Rawl Building to the Harold H. Bate Building. Further, during Dr. Uhr's tenure, additional MBA concentrations and the dual MD/MBA program began, while East Carolina became one of the first universities to offer online MBA courses during his term. In 2002, school changed its name from the Business School to the College of Business. Dr. Rick Niswander became the fourth Dean in 2004, and the new Leadership and Professional Development program came to fruition in 2009. In December 2010, Dr. Stanley G. Eakins became the interim Dean of the College. [2] In 2019, Dr. Paul Schwager was named the College's sixth dean. [3] [4] Dr. Schwager left ECU in 2022 and Dr. Michael Harris was announced as the Interim Dean for the college. [5]

The college offers five undergraduate degrees with many concentrations in addition to a general business minor. The degree in Finance has two concentrations: Financial services, Managerial finance, Risk management & insurance. The degree in Management has three concentrations: Entrepreneurship/Small Business, International Business and Management. The degree in Marketing and Supply Chain Management has three concentrations: Electronic Commerce, Marketing and Operations/Supply Chain Management. The degree in Management Information Systems doesn't have a concentration.
Of the undergraduate students, 86% are Full-time, while 14% are Part-time. The majority of students, 69%, live on campus, while 15% are entirely online, and 16% are on campus and online. The student body is made up of 62% males and 38% females. The declared business majors average GPA is 3.03. [6]
The Graduate Program in the College of Business offers two degrees; Masters of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting. The MBA program is delivered both online and on campus in Greenville. The College of Business, along with the Brody School of Medicine offer a joint M.D./M.B.A. Degree. The M.B.A. program offers ten optional certificates such as Finance and Sport Management.
The M.S.A. program is a fast paced program designed for either Accounting or Non-Accounting Majors. Additionally, the College offers an intensive five-year program, which, upon completing all requirements, grants students both a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and an M.S.A.
The Eli Broad College of Business is the business college at Michigan State University. The college has programs in accounting, finance, human resource management, management, marketing, supply chain management, and hospitality business, which is an independent, industry-specific school within the Broad College. This independent, industry-specific school has 800 admitted undergraduate students and 36 graduate students not included in the college's totals.
The Leeds School of Business is a college of the University of Colorado Boulder in the United States, established 1906. As of April 2022, the school reports an enrollment of over 3800 undergraduate students. In 2001, the college was named for the Leeds family, spearheaded by alumnus Michael Leeds of New York, who committed $35 million to the school. Vijay Khatri is the current dean.
The Robert H. Smith School of Business is the business school at the University of Maryland, College Park, a public research university in College Park, Maryland. The school was named after alumnus Robert H. Smith. One of 12 colleges and schools at the university's main campus, the Smith School offers programs at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Founded in 1916, it is a research-intensive publicly funded institution and is consistently ranked in the top 50 publicly funded universities for research by the Financial Times of London.
The Florida International University (FIU) College of Business, located in Miami, Florida in the United States is one of the university's 26 schools and colleges and was founded in 1965. The college is split into two separate schools: the Landon Undergraduate School of Business with over 7,00 students and the Chapman Graduate School of Business with close to 2,200 students, making the College of Business the largest professional college at FIU.
The Raymond A. Mason School of Business is the business school of William & Mary, a public research university in Williamsburg, Virginia. The school offers Full-time MBA, Part-time MBA, Executive MBA, Masters in Accounting, Master of Science in Business Analytics and Undergraduate Business Degrees. The school is named after alumnus and founder of Legg Mason, Raymond A. "Chip" Mason.
The Wake Forest University School of Business is the business school of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It offers undergraduate programs to around 1,314 students, as well as management-related masters programs. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and has supplemental accounting accreditation by the latter agency. It has a second campus in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The University of Colorado Denver Business School is a college located in Denver, Colorado, which offers undergraduate and graduate business degrees. The Business School is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). As of fall 2022, there were 1,932 undergraduate students and 1,719 students enrolled in the Graduate programs. The school has over 27,000 alumni. CU Denver Business School offers the 2nd best public business school program in Colorado. It is the 9th largest AACSB-accredited business school in the United States to offer a full-time specialized master's degree program.[2]
The Goodman School of Business is the business school of Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The business school offers programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level of study.
The University of Akron College of Business is a dual accredited AACSB business school of the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. The college has a total enrollment of nearly 1,700 undergraduate students and 217 graduate students. All of the college's programs are accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The college currently uses two buildings, the first which was opened in 1991, is a four-story, 81,000-square-foot (7,500 m2) structure with 19 classrooms. In 2020, it was expanded with an newly built professional development building, increasing both the number of classrooms and office facilities. In addition, the college's marketing department is housed in the Polsky building, where it occupies the fifth floor.
University of the Pacific Eberhardt School of Business is one of seven schools and colleges of the University of the Pacific. The business school is located in Weber Hall on the school's main campus in Stockton, California.
Pforzheim University is a public university of applied science in Germany. Located in Pforzheim, it was created to meet the demand for specialists in the jewelry industry and science, before it grew to become one of the most important and research-oriented universities of applied sciences in Germany. The main buildings of the campus are located in the southern part of the city, with affiliated institutes scattered around the city Pforzheim. The Pforzheim University Business School is one of only eleven institutions in Germany to have received the AACSB accreditation.
The Charles H. Lundquist College of Business is the University of Oregon's business school. Founded in 1914, the Lundquist College offers undergraduate degree programs in business administration and accounting, as well as MBA, Executive MBA, Master of Science in Sports Product Management, Master of Accounting, Master of Science in Finance, and PhD graduate programs. These degree programs are supported by four departments and one school of accounting.
The Lee Business School is the business school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The Lee Business School is one of the largest colleges at UNLV and offers ten undergraduate majors, 14 minors and seven graduate programs.

The Poole College of Management is the business school of the North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. The college, accredited by the AACSB in 2000, currently enrolls more than 3,500 students across its undergraduate and graduate academic programs. The college employs around 100 full-time faculty members across its four academic departments: Accounting, Business Management, Economics, and Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
