Ehsaan Noorani is an Indian composer and guitarist.
Noorani is the part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio, which consists of Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa and himself. He was the guitarist for many music directors before he himself started composing music. Ehsaan studied music with Mr. Bismarck Rodrigues, an experienced guitar teacher from Mumbai.
Noorani studied music at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California from 1985 to 1986 . Ehsaan is the first guitarist from India to be endorsed by Fender guitars and has a Squier signature model to his name. He also endorses Fractal Audio and D'Addario strings . His playing is strongly influenced by players like Robben Ford, BB King, Larry Carlton, etc.
In 2015, Noorani was a co-judge in India's first Western reality show, The Stage , produced by Viacom. It aired on Colours Infinity.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Noorani was credited for promoting large number of Indian artists through his Instagram live sessions and thereby providing a platform for budding musicians in India to collaborate and make music.
Noorani is most notably associated with using the Squier Stratocaster guitar and is endorsed by the Fender family of brands. [1] In 2011 Squier released the Ehsaan Noorani Signature Stratocaster which included several custom features such as a HSH pickup configuration and exclusive colors. [2] Ehsaan is also endorsed by Neunaber Audio and currently uses an Immerse Reverberator pedal. [3] In March 2015 Vertex effects shared photos of a custom pedal board they assembled for Ehsaan which featured several guitar effects such as a Strymon Flint, a Maxon OD-9 Overdrive, and a WEEHBO Dumbledore. Kal Ho Naa Ho, also abbreviated as KHNH, is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Nikhil Advani in his directoral debut with a story written by Karan Johar with dialogue by Niranjan Iyengar, and produced by Yash Johar. The film stars Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Preity Zinta, with Sushma Seth, Reema Lagoo, Lillete Dubey, and Delnaaz Irani in supporting roles. In the film, Naina Catherine Kapur (Zinta) and Aman Mathur fall in love, but a secret prevents him from reciprocating his feelings and results in a plan to set Naina up with her best friend, Rohit Patel.
Bunty Aur Babli is a 2005 Indian Hindi-language crime comedy film directed by Shaad Ali and written by Jaideep Sahni, based on a story by Aditya Chopra, who produces the film under the Yash Raj Films. The film, inspired by the 1967 American film Bonnie and Clyde, stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Rani Mukerji in lead roles and marks the first of the many collaborations between the former two. The younger Bachchan and Mukerji play con-artist partners-in-crime, Bunty and Babli, while the elder Bachchan plays DCP Dashrath Singh, whose focus is solely to catch them.
Shankar Mahadevan is an Indian singer and composer who is part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio that writes music for Indian films. In 2023, he was awarded a honorary doctorate by Birmingham City University.
Loy Mendonsa is an Indian music director and part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio which consist of himself, Shankar Mahadevan and Ehsaan Noorani. Before becoming a music composer, he played piano and keyboards for famous Indian music composers such as A. R. Rahman and Nadeem-Shravan. His daughter, Alyssa Mendonsa, made her singing debut with the song Uff Teri Adaa from the movie Karthik Calling Karthik.
