Belle and Sebastian are a Scottish indie pop band formed in Glasgow in 1996. Led by Stuart Murdoch, the band has released ten albums. Much of their work had been released on Jeepster Records, but they are now signed to Matador Records worldwide.

Hate is the fourth studio album by Scottish rock band the Delgados. It was first released on 14 October 2002 by Mantra Records. Following the release of their third studio album The Great Eastern, the band performed music during an art show by Joe Coleman. It served as the catalyst for their next album, giving vocalist and guitarist Alun Woodward the urge to write more honest material. Recording was mainly held at CaVa Sound Studios in Glasgow, Scotland, with Dave Fridmann, Tony Doogan, and the band as producers. Additional recording was done at Chem19 Studios, also in Glasgow, and at Tarbox Road Studios in Cassadaga, New York. Described as an orchestral pop album, Hate continued the sound of The Great Eastern.
"I Learned from the Best" is a 1999 single from American R&B/pop singer Whitney Houston. The ballad, written by Diane Warren, was released as the fifth and final single from Houston's multi-platinum 1998 album My Love Is Your Love. When released, it peaked at number 27 on the US Hot 100. Dance remixes of the song by Hex Hector and Junior Vasquez topped the US dance chart for three weeks. Houston gained another top 20 hit on the UK Singles Chart with this song, where it peaked at number 19. The song also topped the charts in Poland and Romania.
"I Knew I Loved You" is a song recorded by Australian pop duo Savage Garden, released on 28 September 1999 through Roadshow Music and Columbia Records as the second single from their second studio album, Affirmation (1999). Upon release, it topped the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band's second number one in the United States after "Truly Madly Deeply". It was the last song by an Australian artist to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for over 12 years, until Gotye peaked at number one with his single "Somebody That I Used to Know" in 2012. The song also reached number one in Canada and Romania, number three in New Zealand and Sweden, number four in Australia, and the top 10 in Norway and the United Kingdom.

In addition to adding Michael's vocals to the newer version of the song, the arrangement of the song was also modified, albeit only very slightly. The song was originally to feature Michael Jackson. "If I Told You That" peaked at number 1 in Iceland, Croatia and Poland.
