Mya Marie Harrison is an American singer, songwriter, actress and dancer. Classified as a "triple threat," she has become a staple in pop cultural zeitgeist across genres, platforms, and mediums around the world. Born and raised in Washington D.C. metropolitan area, as a child she studied ballet, jazz, and tap. She began her career as a television personality and dance posse member on BET's Teen Summit. After developing an interest in music and nurturing her craft, she was discovered by CEO A. Haqq Islam. In April 1998, she released her eponymous debut album, a smooth R&B song cycle about love and growing up. A critical and commercial success, the album produced her first U.S. top ten single "It's All About Me." "Dilemma" is a song by American rapper Nelly featuring American singer Kelly Rowland. It was released on June 25, 2002, as the second single from the former's second studio album, Nellyville (2002), and as the lead single from Rowland's debut solo studio album, Simply Deep (2002). A pop and R&B ballad, the song consists of a high-pitched intonation and call and response, and contains a sample of Patti LaBelle's 1983 song "Love, Need and Want You". The lyrics describe a man infatuated with a woman committed in an existing relationship. "Dilemma" was written by Nelly, Antoine "Bam" Macon and Ryan Bowser, alongside the "Love, Need and Want You" writers, Kenneth Gamble and Bunny Sigler.

Mary, Scherrie & Susaye is the twenty-ninth and final studio album by The Supremes, released in 1976 on the Motown label. It featured the final line-up for the Supremes, composed of original Supreme Mary Wilson and latter-day members Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene. All three Supremes take leads on the album. The album was a mixture of disco dance tracks (Hi-NRG) and R&B ballads. Payne and Greene mostly took over the dance tracks while Wilson performed the ballads. The album was released in October 1976, nine months before the trio disbanded.

The song was originally recorded for Aaliyah's eponymous third and final studio album (2001) but was not included on its track listing.
