Mary Elizabeth Hill (born November 8, 1985) is a former freestyle swimmer from the United States, who swam for the University of Georgia, who won the gold medal in the women's 400-metre freestyle event at the 2003 Pan American Games.

Born in Atlanta on November 8, 1985, during High School Hill swam for the Dynamo Swim Club under Head Coach Ed Spencer. Showing dominance in the 11-12 age group while swimming for the Dynamo Club, at the December 1999 Woodie B. Malone Meet in Atlanta, Hill won the 200 and 400 IM, the 100 and 200 Butterfly, the 200 Backstroke and the 500 freestyle. Swimming for the Dynamo Club, Hill won the 200 and 400 freestyle, and the 200 Butterfly at the Georgia Senior State Championship and won the high points award for the 16-under girls division. [3] The Dynamo Swim Club won the 18 and under National Championship title in Austin, Texas in April 2001. [4] The Dynamo Women's team, with Hill's contributions, placed fifth in overall team competition. Hill came in 10th in the 400 freestyle, and within scoring range in the 400 and 800 freestyle relays in which she participated. [5]

University of Georgia

While at the University of Georgia, she co-captained the Women's team as an upperclassman. She swam with the 2005 National Championship team and competed with Georgia when they won the 2006 Southeastern Conference Championship Championship. Newman received NCAA All-American honors seven times and captured an American record. [6]

She won gold in the 800-metre free relay at the 2005 Summer Universiade, and finished fifth in the 200-metre freestyle and seventh in the 200-metre butterfly. In 2005, Hill took seventh in the 200-metre butterfly and eighth in the 200-metre freestyle at the U.S. World Championship Trials. [6]

Elizabeth Cynthia Barr, later known by her married name Beth Isaak, is an American former competition swimmer for the University of Texas who was a backstroke specialist and 1988 Seoul Olympic silver medalist for the United States in the women's 4×100-meter medley relay. After her swimming career ended, she worked as a lobbyist, and in public relations in Washington D.C., and Phoenix, Arizona, and in 2010 returned to her native Pensacola to teach and coach swimming with her company BARRacuda Swimming Works.

Mitzi Patricia Kremer, later known by her married name Mitzi Tighe, is an American former competition swimmer for Clemson University who represented the United States at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea where she won a bronze medal in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay. Since 1994, she has worked as a swim coach and Aquatics director in Florida. She coached at her alma mater Titusville High School, where she led the boys team to a conference title in 1994 and founded the Titusville Swim Club in 1995. From 1996-2010, she served as Coach for the Tampa Palms Country Club and later Coach and Aquatics Director for the New Tampa YMCA where she met her husband Mark Tighe, another Team New Tampa swim coach.

Catherine Mai-Lan Fox, born December 15, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan, is an American former swimmer who competed for Stanford University, and won two gold medals swimming freestyle at the 1996 Summer Olympics, one in the 4x100 freestyle relay and one in the 4x100 medley relay.

She later worked as an interior designer with her own company, and after obtaining a Doctorate worked as a Professor of Art and Design at Savannah College of Art and Design and Adrian College in Michigan.

Barbara Ann Marshall is an American former swimmer for the University of North Carolina, and a 1972 Munich Olympic 200-meter and 4x100-meter freestyle relay competitor. Notably in late August 1974, in a dual meet against American rival East Germany in Concord, California, Marshall swam on an American 4x100 meter freestyle relay team that set a world record in the event.

The swimming events of the 15th FINA World Aquatics Championships were held July 28 – August 4, 2013, in Barcelona, Spain. The competition was held in a long course pool inside the Palau Sant Jordi. It featured 40 LCM events, split evenly between males and females. Swimming was one of the five aquatic disciplines at the championships.

Hali Flickinger is a retired American swimmer who specializes in freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events. She represents the Cali Condors of the International Swimming League.

Ariarne Elizabeth Titmus is an Australian swimmer. She is the reigning Olympic champion in the women's 400-metre freestyle, having won the event at the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2024 Summer Olympics and the world record holder in the long course 200-metre freestyle and 400-metre freestyle events. Alexandra Walsh is an American competitive swimmer. She is known for her versatility in all four strokes that has allowed her to have success in medley events. Growing up, Walsh was a phenom who started setting national age group records at 12 in 2014. She led her high school team to multiple state and national championships. At the 2019 Pan American Games, she won three gold medals.

Lea Polonsky is an Israeli swimmer. At the 2017 European Youth Olympics she won silver medals in the 200m Medley and the mixed 4×100m Medley Relay. At the 2019 European Junior Swimming Championships she won a bronze medal in the 200 IM, and at the 2024 European Aquatics Championships she won a gold medal in the 4×200m freestyle relay, and the silver medal in the 200m medley. Polonsky represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Women's 200 metre freestyle, the 200 metre individual medley, and the 4×200 metre freestyle relay.

Summer Ann McIntosh is a Canadian competitive swimmer. She is a three-time Olympic champion, four-time World Aquatics champion, and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist. Noted for her strength in medley and butterfly events, she is the world record holder in the 400 metre individual medley, and also holds the Olympic and textile records in the 200 metre butterfly event, and the Olympic record in the 200 metre individual medley.

Ellen Walshe is an Irish swimmer. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 100 metre butterfly and the 200 metre individual medley. At the 2021 World Swimming Championships, she won the silver medal in the 400 metre individual medley. She was the first swimmer representing Ireland to win a medal higher than a bronze medal at a World Swimming Championships. Collegiately, she competes for the Tennessee Volunteers.
