Gabriele "Gabi" Zimmer is a German politician who served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Germany from 2004 to 2019. She is a member of The Left and sat with the European United Left–Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) group in the European Parliament, which she chaired from 2012 to 2019. Previously, she served as leader of The Left's predecessor, the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS), from 2000 to 2003.

She has served as European Commissioner for Regional Policy from 22 November 2004 until 4 July 2009, when she resigned to become a Member of European Parliament for the Civic Platform. In 2012, Professor Hübner became a member of the International Honorary Council of the European Academy of Diplomacy.

Born in Płock, she graduated from the University of Warsaw in 1974 with a degree in physics. She joined the Solidarity movement in 1980, and was an activist for the group through the 1980s. In 1983, she was arrested after attempting to place a plaque up at the Wujek Coal Mine, which was under martial law at the time as a result of the Pacification of Wujek. After being released the following year, she returned to Warsaw and became a research worker.
