Rags to Riches is an American musical comedy drama that was broadcast on NBC for two seasons from March 9, 1987, to January 15, 1988. Set in the pre-British Invasion 1960s, the series tells the story of Nick Foley, a self-made millionaire who adopts six orphan girls. Each episode included musical scenes of hit songs from the era performed by the girls integrated into the plot.

Fangoria – composed of two of the song's three original artists, Alaska and Nacho Canut – recorded an updated, more electronic version of the song along with a new music video. The series was developed for television by Radical Sheep Productions. This series no longer airs on Family Jr. in Canada as of September 1, 2016. The French-language version of this show, Stella et Sacha, premiered on Disney Junior Télé on Sunday, October 3, 2010. The English-language version of the series premiered on the former Disney Junior channel on Sunday, January 9, 2011.

It became an Internet meme in the mid-2000s after a sped-up version of the song was attached to a video loop from the Japanese anime Popotan, which went viral. This version of the song was officially released in 2006 in Sweden and Japan as "U-u-uma uma", the latter of which charted on Oricon. A virtual group called Caramella Girls was launched to promote the song, renditions in other languages, and other cover songs and original songs.

The series ran on PBS Kids Go! from January 19, 2009, to April 4, 2011 with reruns continuing on PBS until August 31, 2014. The series aired reruns on HBO Kids on HBO Family from January 1, 2016, until November 1, 2020, as part of HBO's deal with Sesame Workshop. On some services, the series is called The New Electric Company to distinguish it from the 1971–77 series.

It was co-produced by Marathon Media, Image Entertainment Corporation and Canal J. The series is a spin-off of Totally Spies! another series from Marathon Media. In France, the series debuted on TF1 on April 1, 2009. Its final episode was broadcast on May 25, 2012.

It also featured other prominent Australian actors including John Jarratt, Wendy Hughes, Leonard Teale, Ray Barrett, Peter Cummins, John Meillon, Megan Williams, John Ewart, Judy Morris, Vincent Ball, Terence Donovan, Serge Lazareff, Peta Toppano, David Gulpilil and Roger Ward. The series was shot in English and Sascha Hehn was dubbed by Australian actor Andrew Harwood.
