It was founded in 1999. The club was known for its wild supporters, 116% Boys, and for its owner, Hjallis Harkimo who was also the owner of Jokerit, an ice hockey club based in Helsinki. [2]
FC Jokerit's last season of football was in 2003, finishing 10th in Veikkausliiga. The club was sold to rivals HJK Helsinki in March 2004, renamed to Klubi-04 and established in Kakkonen. [3]
Jokerit F.C. Helsinki were formed as a supporters´ phoenix club in 2012 and participate in the Tali Halli TM league. Because of the sale and reformation of the original Jokerit, Jokerit FC (or JFC Helsinki) consider HJK Helsinki and Klubi-04 as rivals, despite the fact that they rarely play each other due to the divisions between them. Helsingin Jokerit is a professional ice hockey team based in Helsinki, Finland, which competes in Mestis. For the 2023–24 season, Jokerit plays its home games at the Keravan jäähalli in Kerava and at the Helsinki Ice Hall in Helsinki.

Përparim Hetemaj is a Finnish assistant football coach of Klubi 04, and a former professional footballer who last played as a midfielder for Veikkausliiga club HJK. Born in Kosovo, Hetemaj arrived in Finland when he was six years old and played for HJK's youth teams; signing a professional contract in 2004 at age 17. He joined Greek side AEK Athens in 2006, and moved to Twente in 2009. Subsequently, in 2010, he was signed by Brescia and was transferred to Chievo in 2011. Hetemaj played a total of 300 matches in the Serie A, before returning to Finland in 2022 after a season with Reggina in the Serie B.
