Haddadi was the first Iranian to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) when he debuted with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008. He played with the Grizzlies until 2013 before bouncing around the league with the Toronto Raptors and the Phoenix Suns. In 2013, he returned home to Iran before playing in China.
Zhu Fangyu is a former professional Chinese professional basketball player, who spent his entire pro club career with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Standing at a height of 2.01 meters (6'7") tall, and weighing 104 kilograms, he played at the small forward position. He was nicknamed "The Rain of Three-Pointers", due to his ability to sink three-pointers at crucial moments during games.
The 2011 FIBA Asia Championship for Men is the intercontinental championship for basketball organized by FIBA Asia that doubles as a qualifying tournament for the men's basketball tournament of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England, United Kingdom. The tournament was held in 15–25 September 2011 at Wuhan, Hubei, China. Lebanon was the original host for the event. Team China won the tournament, defeating Jordan 70–69 in the final. It was the first time in the history of FIBA Asia Championship that the title was won by just one single point.

Emma Meesseman is a Belgian professional basketball player for Fenerbahçe of the Women's Basketball Super League and EuroLeague Women. After playing basketball in Belgium, Meesseman was drafted by the Washington Mystics with the 19th overall pick in the second round of the 2013 WNBA draft. She has also played for the Belgian national team and several European professional teams. She was named the 2011 FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year and the 2019 WNBA Finals MVP. Meesseman studied physical education at Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
