Qualification for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship was held to determine the participants in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship. China secured qualification by being named as hosts. The other fifteen berths were disputed per FIBA Asia zone, and via the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup.

2015 FIBA Asia Championship

The 2015 FIBA Asia Championship for Men was the 28th continental basketball championship in Asia. The tournament was organised by FIBA Asia.

FIBA Asia is a zone within the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) which contains all 44 Asian FIBA federations.

2014 FIBA Asia Cup

2014 FIBA Asia Cup was the 5th FIBA Asia Cup, a top-level international basketball tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament was held in Wuhan, Hubei, China from 11–19 July 2014. Iran won the tournament by defeating Chinese Taipei 89–79 in the final and thus automatically qualified for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship to be held in China.

The FIBA Asia Challenge, previously known as the FIBA Asia Stanković Cup between 2004 and 2010 and FIBA Asia Cup from 2012 to 2014, is a basketball tournament which takes place every two years between teams from Asia.

FIBA Asia Cup

The 2014 FIBA Asia Cup was held at Wuhan, Hubei, China from 11 to 19 July 2014.

Wuhan is the capital and largest city of the Chinese province of Hubei. It is the most populous city in Central China, with a population of over 10 million, the seventh most populous Chinese city, and one of the nine National Central Cities of China. It lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain, on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River's intersection with the Han river. Arising out of the conglomeration of three cities, Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, Wuhan is known as "China's Thoroughfare" (九省通衢), and holds sub-provincial status.

Hubei Province

Hubei is a landlocked province in Central China. The name of the province means "north of the lake", referring to its position north of Dongting Lake. The provincial capital is Wuhan, a major transportation thoroughfare and the political, cultural, and economic hub of Central China.

China Country in East Asia

China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a country in East Asia and the world's most populous country, with a population of around 1.404 billion in 2017. Covering approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), it is the third or fourth largest country by total area. Governed by the Communist Party of China, the state exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces, five autonomous regions, four direct-controlled municipalities, and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

Central Asia

The Central Asia qualifiers was a one-game playoff between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in Astana.

East Asia

The 4th East Asian Basketball Championship was cancelled as no countries were willing to host it. The four countries with the highest FIBA rankings (excluding finals hosts China) took the 4 finals berths available to East Asian teams: South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Japan, and Hong Kong.

The Korean national basketball team represents South Korea in international men's basketball competitions. It is administered by the Korea Basketball Association.

The Japanese national basketball team is administered by the Japan Basketball Association (JBA). A 1936 founding member of FIBA Asia, Japan has one of Asia's longest basketball traditions.

The participation of Japan was dependent if FIBA lifts its suspension in time for the draw.

Gulf

The 14th Gulf Basketball Championship was held at Dammam, Saudi Arabia from 13 to 20 October 2014. [2]

Dammam is the capital of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The judicial and administrative bodies of the province, plus several government departments, are located in the city. Dammam is the largest city in the Eastern Province, and the sixth largest in Saudi Arabia, after Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, Medina and Taif. Like the other 12 regional capitals of Saudi Arabia, Dammam is not included within any governorate; instead, it is governed as a "municipality" headed by a mayor.

Saudi Arabia Country in Western Asia

Saudi Arabia, officially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is a country in Western Asia constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula. With a land area of approximately 2,150,000 km2 (830,000 sq mi), Saudi Arabia is geographically the largest sovereign state in the Middle East, the second-largest in the Arab world, the fifth-largest in Asia, and the 12th-largest in the world. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast and Yemen to the south; it is separated from Israel and Egypt by the Gulf of Aqaba. It is the only nation with both a Red Sea coast and a Persian Gulf coast, and most of its terrain consists of arid desert, lowland and mountains. As of October 2018, the Saudi economy was the largest in the Middle East and the 18th largest in the world. Saudi Arabia also has one of the world's youngest populations; 50 percent of its 33.4 million people are under 25 years old.

West Asia

The WABA Championship was held at Orthodox Club Arena, Amman from 29 May to 2 June 2015. As original hosts Iran were already qualified by winning the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup, they gave up hosting the tournament and withdrew. Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine qualified.

2015 FIBA Asia Womens Championship

The 2015 FIBA Asia Women's Championship was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the women's basketball tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The tournament was held in Wuhan, China.

2015 FIBA Americas Championship

The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, in Brazil. This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Mexico City, Mexico. The tournament was won for the first time by the Venezuelan national basketball team. Venezuela and runner-up Argentina, qualified directly for the 2016 Olympics. They joined the FIBA Americas member, United States, who qualified for the Olympics by virtue of winning the 2014 FIBA World Cup, and they elected not to participate at this tournament; and FIBA Americas member, Brazil, who finished 9th in the tournament, but qualified for the Olympics as the host nation. Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, the next three highest-finishing teams, qualified for the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, but none of them won their respective qualifying tournaments, therefore eliminating their 2016 Olympic hopes.

The 11th Southeast Asia Basketball Association Championship was the qualifying tournament for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship. It also served as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It was held on 27 April to 1 May 2015 in Singapore. The three best teams at the end of the single round-robin tournament qualified for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship which was held in Changsha, Hunan, China from 23 September to 3 October 2015.

The 2014 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship qualification was held in late 2013 and early 2014 with the Gulf region, West Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, Central Asia and South Asia each conducting tournaments.

The 2015 SABA Championship was the 4th SABA Championship, and the qualifying event in the SABA subzone, one of the FIBA Asia's subzone for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship. The games were held from 3 July to 5 July in Bengaluru, India. The tournament was originally set to be hosted in Bangladesh.

2016 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship

The 2016 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship was the 24th edition of the Asian Championship for Junior Men aged 18 years old and below. The tournament was held in Tehran, Iran from July 22 to 31. The top three teams will qualify and will represent FIBA Asia the 2017 FIBA Under-19 World Championship in Egypt. This will be the second time the country will host the tournament after successfully staging the 20th edition eight years ago.

Qualifying for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge is currently being held to determine the eight teams that will participate in the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge, aside from the host team Iran and 2015 FIBA Asia Championship winners China. Qualification is via FIBA Asia zone, with each zone having an automatic one berth, plus additional berths from the teams' zones of the second and third runners-up in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship.

2017 SEABA Championship

The 12th Southeast Asia Basketball Association Championship was the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. It also served as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It was held from 12 to 18 May 2017 in the Philippines.

The 2017 SEABA Under-16 Championship was the qualifying tournament for Southeast Asia Basketball Association at the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship. The tournament was held in Quezon City, Philippines from May 14 to 18. The Smart Araneta Coliseum was the venue of the five-team competition, coinciding with the 2017 SEABA Championship.

Qualification for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup are being held to determine the participants in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. Lebanon secured qualification by being named as hosts. The other fifteen berths were disputed per FIBA Asia zone, and via the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge.

The 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup was the 26th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament took place in Chenzhou, China from 22 September to 30 September 2017. This was the second straight year that China hosted the tournament.

2017 SABA Championship

The 2017 SABA Championship is the 6th SABA Championship, and the qualifying event in the SABA sub-zone, one of the FIBA Asia's subzone for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The games were held from 19 to 23 May in Malé, Maldives. India successfully defended their SABA crown after sweeping the whole tournament. With this win, they qualified for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and the first round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The tournament followed a single round robin format.

Qualification for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup are currently being held to determine the sixteen participants in this FIBA Asia Cup.
