The 1969 Asian Basketball Confederation Championship for Men was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Ten Asian teams participated in the competition but Laos played under special invitation and the games did not count in the championship standings.

Jyotirmoyee Sikdar is an Indian politician and former sportswoman. She served as member of parliament of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from the Krishnagar constituency in the 14th Lok Sabha. She was defeated in the 2009 Indian general election by the actor turned politician Tapas Paul of the Trinamool Congress. She had been reportedly inactive in politics following her defeat. The AFC U-20 Asian Cup, formerly known as the AFC Youth Championship and AFC U-19 Championship, is a biennial international association football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-20 national teams of Asia that also serves as a qualification tournament for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The competition has been held since 1959. Between 1959 and 1978, the tournament was held annually ; since 1980, it has been held every two years. The 1980 AFC Youth Championship had a qualification stage for first time.

The Afro-Asian Club Championship, sometimes referred to as the Afro-Asian Cup, was a football competition endorsed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), contested between the winners of the African Champions' Cup and the Asian Club Championship, the two continents' top club competitions. Lee Hoe-taik is a former South Korean football player and manager. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest South Korean forwards of all time. He is also one of four players inducted into the Korean FA Hall of Fame.

The 2000 season was the eighth season of the J-League Division 1. The league began on March 11 and ended on November 26. At the end of the season the second stage winner Kashima Antlers won the Suntory Championship against Yokohama F-Marinos who won the first stage.

The Asian Weightlifting Championships is a weightlifting championship organised by the Asian Weightlifting Federation for competitors from the Asian countries. It has been held since 1969 for men and 1988 for women. In 2008 the championships provided the official qualification for Asian competitors in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Park Lee-chun is former South Korean football player and manager. He played for the South Korea national football team from 1969 to 1974. In the 1972 AFC Asian Cup, he scored four goals and led South Korea to become runners-up. After retirement, he managed South Korean under-20 team in the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Volleyball at the Pacific Games has been played since 1963.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Angela Bairstow</span> English badminton player

Angela Bairstow (1942-2016) was an English international badminton player.

The 1969 Asian Badminton Championships took place from 3–15 February 1969, in Manila, Philippines. Indonesia won the men's team competition after beating Malaysia 3–2 in the final. The match for third place between Japan and Philippines also ended 3–2.
