The 1994 FIBA World Championship was the 12th FIBA World Championship, the international basketball world championship for men's teams. The tournament was hosted by Canada from August 4 to 14, 1994. The tournament was held at SkyDome and Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto as well as at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton. The hosting duties were originally awarded to Belgrade, Yugoslavia, but after United Nations limited participation in sporting events in Yugoslavia, Toronto stepped in as a replacement option in 1992.

The Liga Sudamericana de Básquetbol (LSB), or FIBA Liga Sudamericana de Básquetbol, also commonly known as FIBA South American League, is the second-tier level South American professional basketball competition at the club level, with the first-tier level now considered the panamerican competition of the Champions League. The competition is organized by the South American Basketball Association (ABASU), which operates as a regional sub-zone of FIBA Americas. Hur Jae is a South Korean retired basketball coach and former player. As one of the most recognizable domestic sports stars of the late 1980s to early 2000s, Hur was nicknamed "The President of Korean Basketball" by Korean fans and the media. He previously played for Jeonju KCC Egis, Wonju DB Promy and Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus and represented South Korea at the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship. At the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship in Manila, he was named to the tournament's All-Star Team.

Yoo Jae-hak is a South Korean basketball coach, formerly for Ulsan Mobis Phoebus and the Korean national team, which participated at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. He is currently Ulsan’s general manager. He also competed as a player in the men's tournament at the 1988 Summer Olympics.

The Last Princess is a 2016 South Korean period drama film directed by Hur Jin-ho with a screenplay by Hur, Lee Han-eol, and Seo Yoo-min, based on the best-selling novel by Kwon Bi-young. It stars Son Ye-jin as Princess Deokhye, the last princess of the Joseon Dynasty. The film depicts Princess Deokhye's life in Japan after she was forced to move there at age 13 by the Imperial Japanese government, and her attempts to return to Korea.

Yang Hong-seok is a South Korean basketball player. He plays for Korean Basketball League team Suwon KT Sonicboom and the South Korean national team.

Kang Dong-hee is a South Korean former basketball player and coach. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics. In his prime, Kang was regarded as the best domestic point guard of his generation and was nicknamed "Wizard of the Court".

Jung Jae-kun is a South Korean retired basketball player. His playing career spanned thirteen years and coincided with the founding of the all-professional Korean Basketball League. Possessing the ability and skillset to play as either a center or a forward, he is credited with paving the way for the "center-forward" swingman to succeed in domestic basketball during an era where such players were often viewed as being strategically difficult to fit into the team's tactics.

The 2014 Korean Basketball League rookie draft was held on September 17, 2014, at the Jamsil Students' Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea. Out of the 39 participants, 21 players were drafted. Goyang Orions won the lottery for first overall pick and also obtained the seventh overall pick via a trade with Busan KT Sonicboom.
