FIFA 2001 (known as FIFA 2001: Major League Soccer in North America) is a 2001 FIFA video game and the sequel to FIFA 2000 and was succeeded by FIFA Football 2002. It features Paul Scholes in the UK cover and Ben Olsen in the North American cover. It was released on October 30, 2000 for Microsoft Windows, November 8, 2000 for PlayStation, and November 24, 2000 for PlayStation 2 (a launch title in Europe). A Game Boy Color version was planned, but it was cancelled. The game was given positive reviews.

The game received positive reviews, GameRankings holds an score of 85.50% for PlayStation [3] , 84.60% for PC [4] , and 82.57% for PlayStation 2 [5] , Metacritic utilizes a 85 for the PlayStation & PC, [6] [7] and an 83 for the PlayStation 2. [8] IGN gave FIFA 2001 a 9.2/10 for PlayStation, [9] 9/10 for PS2, [10] and 8.8/10 for PC. [11] GameSpot gave it a 9/10 [12]

The PlayStation version received "Gold" by from the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA), [13] with at least 200,000 copies in the United Kingdom.

The game was released on March 15, 2011 in America, and was released on March 18 in UK/Europe. A downloadable demo was released on March 1 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PS3 version supports the PlayStation Move and is also compatible in 3D. The Xbox 360 version does not support the Kinect but is 3D compatible.
