Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball.
Charles Frederick "Karch" Kiraly is an American volleyball player, coach, and broadcast announcer. He was a central part of the U.S National Team that won gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. He went on to win the gold medal again at the 1996 Olympic Games, the first Olympic competition to feature beach volleyball. He is the only player to have won Olympic medals of any color in both the indoor and beach volleyball categories. He played college volleyball for the UCLA Bruins, where his teams won three national championships under head coach Al Scates.
Ivan Miljković is a former Serbian volleyball player, a member of Serbia men's national volleyball team in 1998–2012, Olympic Champion 2000, European Champion, medalist of World Championship, World Grand Champions Cup, World Cup and World League.
Nikola Grbić is a Serbian professional volleyball coach and former player who is currently serving as head coach for the Poland national team. Grbić is a gold medalist of the 2000 Summer Olympics, a bronze medalist of the 1996 Summer Olympics, and a multiple World Championship, European Championship, and World League medalist. He was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2016.

It is the most successful Italian club, having won the national league twelve times and the national cup as well. The club is one of the most prominent and prestigious in Europe too, having won thirteen European trophies including four CEV Champions League.

Peter Blangé is a retired volleyball player from the Netherlands who represented his native country in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. Four years later, he helped the Dutch national team win the silver medal in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Blangé then won the gold medal with the national team in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta by defeating Italy in the final. His final Olympic appearance as an athlete was in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. He was a setter.
Giovane Farinazzo Gavio, known as Giovane, is a retired Brazilian volleyball coach and former player who was a member of the Brazil men's national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain by defeating the Netherlands (3-0) in the final.
Sérgio Dutra dos Santos, known as Serginho or Escadinha is a Brazilian former volleyball player and four-time Olympian. As a member of the Brazilian national volleyball team, he won gold medals at the 2004 and 2016 Olympics, and silver medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

She has four CEV Champions League championships, winning three with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahçe. She also has three FIVB Club World Championship, winning two with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahçe. She was part of the Turkey national team at the 2012 and 2020 Summer Olympics.
