The Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies is one of the faculties of University of Tehran, which was established in 1935. [2] [3]

History

The Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies of University of Tehran was established in 1935 at the Sepahsalar College building presently known as Shahid Motahari University, under the name of Faculty of Theoretical and Traditional Studies with three disciplines of Arabic literature, Theoretical studies and Traditional studies. This period lasted for five years and in 1940 the faculty was closed. The activity of the faculty was resumed in 1943 at the campus of the Iranian Academy with two disciplines of Theoretical studies and Traditional studies and it was gradually developed and two other disciplines named Arabic language and literature and Islamic culture were added to it. Also, PhD programs were offered in two fields of Theoretical studies and Traditional studies. In 1965, the faculty's name Faculty of Theoretical and Traditional Studies was changed to the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies. [2] [3] [4] In 1978, the faculty was moved to the current building. [5] At present, the faculty has 8 Department of study with more than 24 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs with over 120 faculty members. [6] [4] [7] The faculty of theology and Islamic studies is one of the world’s top academic institutions focusing on Islamic and comparative religious studies from Islamic history, mysticism and philosophy to Quranic sciences, Hadith and Shia jurisprudence, as well as work ethics. [8]

The Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies of University of Tehran has eight educational groups [9] consists of six departments and two centers which offers fields and degrees [10] as below: [5]

The library of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies is one of the rich libraries in fields of Islamic studies in the world and has more than 130,000 volumes of books in Persian, Arabic and Latin languages. [23] [5] [22]

Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) (Persian: دانشگاه علم و صنعت ایران, Daneshgah-e 'elm vâ Sân'at-e Iran) is a research institution and university of engineering and science in Iran. The university is home to 15 faculties offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of engineering-based subjects as well as maths, physics, and department of foreign languages. In 1995 IUST awarded Iran’s first PhDs in materials, metallurgical and traffic engineering. Hakim Sabzevari University (HSU) (Persian: دانشگاه حکیم سبزواری, Daneshgah-e Hakim Sabzevari, Global WHED ID= IAU-016158) is one of the most developed public universities in Sabzevar city at Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.It was established in 1987 as a branch of Tarbiat Moallem University of Tehran but later became independent and it was renamed to Hakim Sabzevari University in 2011, after Hadi Sabzevari, a prominent Iranian philosopher and theologian. HSU offers 139 bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. programs to more than 8152 male and female students studying under about 263 faculty members in 10 departments. The Islamic Azad University, Shiraz Branch is a private university located in Shiraz, Iran. It is a part of private chain of universities in Iran called the Islamic Azad Universities. Ikhtiyār maʿrifat al-rijāl, also known as the Rijāl al-Kashshī, is a Twelver Shi'ite work of biographical evaluation originally written by Muhammad ibn Umar al-Kashshi and abridged by Shaykh Tusi.

Fathollah Mojtabaei is an Iranian author and historian. He is a permanent member of Academy of Persian Language and Literature and a member of the faculty of the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia.

Abū ʿAmr Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Kashshī, died 941 or 951 or 978, known as al-Kashshi or as Kashshi, was a Twelver Shi'ite scholar specializing in biographical evaluation and hadith studies. He is the author of the Rijāl al-Kashshī, a major biographical work which ranks as one of the four main sources in the Shi'ite rijāl literature. Al-Kashshi's original work is now lost, but parts of it survive in an abridgement made by Shaykh Tusi (995–1067) called the Ikhtiyār maʿrifat al-rijāl.

He was the famous Salah al jama'ah imam of the Seyyed Mosque of Isfahan. He was one of the modernist clerics and the first cleric to study law and become a lawyer.
