Fatuma Sado Dergo (born 11 October 1991) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. She has a personal best of 2:26:09 hours and has won marathons in Hamburg, Los Angeles and Xiamen.
Fatuma signed up with athletics agents Elite Sports Management International and began running at international road races at the age of eighteen. In her first year of competition abroad she won the Casablanca 10K in a time of 31:39 minutes, ran 1:11:44 for third at the Rabat Half Marathon and came second at the Zhuhai Half Marathon in China. She opened 2011 with personal bests of 69:02 for the half marathon (runner-up at the Humarathon) and 51:10 for 15 km (second at the 15 km du Puy-en-Velay). [1] In May she made her successful debut over the full marathon distance, as she won the Hamburg Marathon with a run of 2:28:30 hours. [2] Later that year she improved to 2:28:01 with a run at the Istanbul Marathon, coming second behind stablemate Alemitu Abera. [3]
Fatuma had five outings in the 2012 season and built her standing as an elite marathon runner. She was runner-up at the Mumbai Marathon in January (running 2:30:20) [4] and finished in 2:25:39 hours on the Los Angeles Marathon's downhill course, where she won the women's race and also the gender challenge, which saw the women's field start 17 minutes and 31 seconds ahead of the elite men. [5] She claimed the title and set the course record at the Pittsburgh Half Marathon in May [6] then entered her first major marathon at the 2012 Chicago Marathon, where she placed seventh in a personal best of 2:26:09 hours. [7] She closed the year with a win at the Zhuhai Half Marathon.
The Xiamen Marathon was her first race of 2013 and she won the third marathon of her career with a time of 2:27:35 hours. [8] Later that year she also participated at the Lille Half Marathon, placing fifth with a time of 1:12:27 hours. [9] Since 2013, she has continued to participate in various races around the world. In 2014, she won the Beijing Marathon with a time of 2:30:03 hours, [10] and in 2015, she set her personal best marathon time of 2:24:16 hours at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, placing third. [11] She came back to the Xiamen Marathon in 2018 to take first place again, with a time of 2:26:41 hours, [12] and she won the Osaka International Women's Marathon in 2019 with a time of 2:25:39. Kayoko Fukushi is a Japanese long-distance runner, who specializes in the 5000, 10,000 metres and marathon. Fukushi represented Japan at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. She was the bronze medallist in the marathon at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. She holds a marathon best of 2:22:17 hours.
Asha Gigi Roba is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. Her personal best of 2:26:05 hours was set in 2004 at the Paris Marathon, where she came second. She represented Ethiopia in the event at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the World Championships in Athletics. She has won the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and the Florence Marathon.
Ashu Kasim Rabo is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specialises in the half marathon and marathon events. Her personal bests are 68:56 minutes and 2:23:09 hours, respectively.
Yoshimi Ozaki is a Japanese long-distance runner, who specializes in the marathon. She won the 2008 Tokyo Women's Marathon in a personal best time of 2:23:30 hours. A year later she took the silver medal in the event at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics.
Amane Gobena Gemeda is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes primarily in road running events. She has a marathon best of 2:23:50 hours.
Feyse Tadese Boru is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in the half marathon.
Merima Mohammed Hasen is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner who competes in road running events, including the marathon. Her personal best of 2:23:06 hours for the distance makes her the second fastest teenager ever over the 42.195 kilometres (26.219 mi) distance. She has won marathons in Düsseldorf, Nice and Ottawa. She represented Ethiopia at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2011.
Bizunesh Deba, also known as Buzunesh Deba, is a Bronx-based Ethiopian long-distance runner. Her personal best for the marathon is 2:19:59, set during the Boston Marathon in 2014.
Belaynesh Oljira Jemama is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes mainly in 10K and half marathon races. She represented her country at the 2012 Summer Olympics, the 2013 World Championships and the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2011 and 2013.

She is a three-time winner of the Berlin Marathon and the 8th fastest women marathoner of all time.
Irvette van Zyl is a South African long-distance runner and women's 50km ultramarathon world record holder. She competed in the marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics but did not finish the race. She has twice participated in the London Marathon and set her previous best time of 2:31:26 hours there in 2013. In 2021 she improved this time by almost 3 minutes to 2:28:40 at the Xiamen Marathon in Siena, Italy and again in 2022 by more than 2 minutes to 2:26:11 at the Valencia Marathon in Spain.
The 2012 Chicago Marathon was the 35th edition of the annual marathon race in Chicago, Illinois and was held on Sunday, October 7. An IAAF Gold Label Road Race, it was the fourth and final World Marathon Majors event to be held that year. Tsegaye Kebede won the men's race in a course record of 2:04:38 hours and Atsede Baysa was the women's winner in a personal best of 2:22:03. A total of 37455 runners finished the race.
Dickson Kiptolo Chumba is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. He has won the Rome, Eindhoven, Tokyo, and Chicago marathons and has a personal best of 2:04:32 for the distance.
Valentine Jepkorir Kipketer is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in the half marathon and marathon distances. She has won marathons in Mumbai and Amsterdam and represented her country at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. She was the silver medallist in the marathon at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
