Federico Zwanck (born 1 March 1934) is an Argentine former freestyle swimmer. In the National Championships of Argentina in 1952, he was victorious in the 200m, 400m and 800m. [1] He competed in three events at the 1952 Summer Olympics. [2] In 1955, he competed in the Pan American Games, in which he won two silver medals, one in 4 × 100 m medley and another in 4 × 200 m freestyle. [3]

In September 1956, [4] he and his teammates achieved the South American record for 4x200 freestyle. [4] [5] It was then planned that he competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics, but the political situation did not allow it. [5] He and his teammates had received presents from ex-president Juan Perón but the new government did not permit their participation. [5]

Personal life

He is married and to Liliana Zwank, [6] a golfer in the Ladies European Tour. [2]

She was the first Spanish woman to win a gold medal in swimming at an Olympic Games and is widely considered to be the greatest Spanish swimmer of all time.

Katalin Szőke was a Hungarian swimmer. She competed at the 1952 Olympics and won two gold medals, in the 100 m and 4 × 100 m freestyle events. Two years later she repeated that success at the 1954 European Championships. She also competed in these two events at the 1956 Olympics but without success. During her career Szőke set four world records. In 1985 she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

Gemma Mengual Civil is a Spanish synchronised swimmer. She has competed at the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. On 15 February 2012 she announced her retirement. After retiring she became involved with coaching the national synchronised swimming team. However in June 2015 Mengual announced that she would return to competition with the aim of competing at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia, in the mixed duet with Pau Ribas, whom she had previously coached. Although she had previously indicated that she would not compete beyond the World Championships, in September of that year she confirmed via social media that she would compete in the duet in the 2016 Summer Olympics with Ona Carbonell.

Felipe Perrone Rocha is a water polo player. Born in Brazil, he competed for Spain from 2003 until 2013, including in the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics. Afterwards he competed for his birth country in the 2016 Summer Olympics, as Brazil earned its first qualifying spot in 32 years as hosts. He helped Spanish water polo club CN Atlètic-Barceloneta win the LEN Champions League in 2013–14 season. His brother Ricardo Perrone also competed for Spain in water polo.
