Fana Vincent "Fidel" Mlombo (born 21 December 1964) is a South African politician and trade unionist who served as Mpumalanga's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Culture,Sports and Recreation from June until September 2024 and has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since August 2016. He was formerly the Provincial Secretary of the Mpumalanga branch of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) from 2009 to 2016,and he has also served in the provincial executive of the South African Communist Party (SACP). [1]
Mlombo entered politics in 1985 when he joined COSATU. [1] He was active in the Paper,Printing,Wood,and Allied Workers' Union while working at a Sappi plant in Ngodwana,but he moved to the South African Commercial,Catering and Allied Workers Union in 1995 to become a provincial organiser for the union. In 2002,he joined COSATU as a provincial organiser. [1] He was elected Provincial Secretary of COSATU Mpumalanga in 2009 and he remained in that position when he joined the provincial legislature in August 2016. [1] [2] At that time he was also a member of the Provincial Executive Committee of the SACP in Mpumalanga. [1]
In the legislature,Mlombo filled a casual vacancy that had arisen after the 2016 local government elections when Nomsa Mtsweni resigned to become Mayor of Thembisile Hani. [2] He was sworn in on 15 August 2016. [1] In the 2019 general election,he was elected to his first full term in the provincial legislature,ranked 13th on the ANC's provincial party list. [3] As of 2022,he was the Majority Chief Whip in the provincial legislature,with Million Makaringe as his deputy. [4] [5]
Following the 2024 general election,Mlombo joined the provincial government as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Culture,Sports and Recreation. [6] Less than three months,he resigned as an MEC and was replaced with Leah Mabuza after the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress instructed premier Mandla Ndlovu to fire one of his male MECs and replace them with a woman in order for his executive council to be compliant with their gender policy that if a province has a male premier,60% of the members of the executive council must be women. She previously served as the Mpumalanga MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2021 to 2022,as the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature from 2019 to 2021 and as the MEC for Social Development from 2016 to 2019. Shiba is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).
Vusumuzi Robert Shongwe is a South African politician who is currently serving in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. He formerly served in the Executive Council in Mpumalanga province. Between September and November 2015,Shongwe served as acting Premier of Mpumalanga while Premier David Mabuza was on sick leave. He is a member of the African National Congress and was formerly treasurer of the party's provincial executive committee in Mpumalanga,previously the chairperson of the ANC in the Gert Sibande region.
Leonah Lindiwe Ntshalintshali is a South African politician who has been Deputy Minister of Correctional Services and a member of the National Assembly of South Africa since July 2024,representing the African National Congress. She was previously Mpumalanga's Member of the Executive Council for Arts,Sports,Culture and Recreation from 2019 to 2021 before serving as the MEC for Social Development from 2021 until 2024. Ntshalintshali was Mayor of Witbank's Emalahleni Local Municipality from 2015 to 2018.
Sasekani Janet Manzini is a South African politician who currently serves as the MEC for Health in the Mpumalanga provincial government,appointed in July 2018 as well as the Provincial spokesperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga. She was elected to serve on the ANC's provincial executive committee (PEC) in December 2015 from the position of provincial African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) secretary. Manzini served as the MEC for the provincial Department of Public Works,Roads and Transport from August 2016 to July 2018. She has been a member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since February 2016.
Mandla Jeffrey Msibi is a South African politician and educator who has been a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since May 2019. He was the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from May 2019 to February 2021,theMEC for Agriculture,Rural Development,Land and Environmental Affairs from February 2021 until his dismissal in October 2021 and the MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs from October 2022 until June 2024. Prior to serving in the legislature,he was the speaker and a councillor in the Mbombela Local Municipality. Msibi is a member of the African National Congress.
Mohita Latchminarain is a South African politician from Mpumalanga who served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works,Roads and Transport from February 2021 until October 2022. She has been a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since May 2019. Latchminarain is a member of the governing African National Congress.
Bonakele Amos Majuba is a South African politician and educator who has served as the MEC for Finance in Mpumalanga since June 2024. Previously,he served as the MEC for Education from May 2019 until June 2024. A member of the African National Congress,he has been a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since May 2009. Majuba was the deputy speaker of the provincial legislature between March 2018 and May 2019.
Speedy Katisho Mashilo is a South African politician who is currently the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Human Settlements,Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in Mpumalanga,as well as both the deputy provincial chairperson and acting provincial treasurer of the local branch of the African National Congress (ANC).
Violet Sizani Siwela was a South African politician from Mpumalanga. She was a Member of the National Assembly,where she chaired the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development,and a member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress (ANC). She served in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature until May 2019.
Mandla Padney Ndlovu is a South African politician who has served as the sixth Premier of Mpumalanga since June 2024. Between October 2022 and June 2024,he served as Mpumalanga's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Public Works,Roads and Transport. He previously served as the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs May 2022 until October 2022. He has been a member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since May 2022. Ndlovu is the provincial chairperson of the African National Congress in Mpumalanga.

The Members of the Executive Council (MECs) are appointed from among the members of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature by the Premier of Mpumalanga,an office held since June 2024 by Mandla Ndlovu.
Blessing Thandi Shongwe is a South African politician. She formerly served as Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature from 2014 until March 2018,when she was first appointed to the Mpumalanga Executive Council as the MEC for Culture,Sport and Recreation. Following the 2019 election,she was moved to the Social Development portfolio before returning as the MEC for Culture,Sport and Recreation in February 2021. She left the provincial legislature in May 2024. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).

Jacob Israel Mabena is a South African politician,businessman and former trade unionist who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature and Mpumalanga Executive Council until 2005,when he was fired from the Executive Council by Premier Thabang Makwetla. He is also a former president of the Chemical,Energy,Paper,Printing,Wood and Allied Workers' Union and a former provincial secretary of the Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Eastern Transvaal.
Jerry Dimotana Thibedi is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2010 to 2019 and in the North West Provincial Legislature from 1994 to 2009. He was the inaugural Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature between 1994 and 1999 and subsequently served in the North West Executive Council between 1999 and 2009 under Premiers Popo Molefe and Edna Molewa.
Thulasizwe Simon Thomo is a South African politician who is currently serving as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works,Roads and Transport. He has been a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since March 2023 and the provincial chairperson of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) since August 2022 until the disbandment of the structure in August 2023. Thomo is also a regional deputy chairperson for the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in the Gert Sibande region.
