Sasekani Janet Manzini (born 13 May 1979) is a South African politician who currently serves as the MEC for Health in the Mpumalanga provincial government,appointed in July 2018 as well as the Provincial spokesperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga. She was elected to serve on the ANC's provincial executive committee (PEC) in December 2015 from the position of provincial African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) secretary. Manzini served as the MEC for the provincial Department of Public Works,Roads and Transport from August 2016 to July 2018. She has been a member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since February 2016.
Manzini was born on 13 May 1979 in the Madras Village outside Bushbuckridge in the former Transvaal Province,now Mpumalanga. She attended Orhovelani High School. She later obtained post-matric certificates in marketing and municipal governance. [1]
Manzini joined the ANC and its youth league while in her youth. [1] She was elected a municipal councillor of the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality and served as a member of the mayoral committee (MMC). She was later elected provincial secretary of the ANC youth league in Mpumalanga. [1]
She was sworn in as a member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature in February 2016. [2] In August 2016,Premier David Mabuza appointed her as the MEC for Public Works,Roads and Transport. [3]
Manzini was made the new Health MEC by Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane in July 2018 when the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) made a string of complaints about the performance of then Health MEC Gillion Mashego,who was made the new Public Works MEC. Manzini returned to the post of Health MEC after the May 2019 South African elections when Mtsweni-Tsipane was voted to continue as Premier of Mpumalanga. Manzini was also elected to her first full term as MPL. [4] [5] [6] [7]
Following the 2024 general election,Manzini was retained as Hleath MEC by the newly elected premier Mandla Ndlovu. [8]
Refilwe Maria Tsipane,known as Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane,is a South African politician and a party member of the African National Congress (ANC),who has served as the 7th Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces since 2024. Prior to serving in parliament,she served as the 5th Premier of Mpumalanga between 2018 and 2024. She succeeded former Premier David Mabuza after he was appointed Deputy President of South Africa. Mtsweni-Tsipane was also a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature and previously served as the MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
Busisiwe Paulina "Busi" Shiba is a South African politician who was the Mpumalanga MEC for Agriculture,Rural Development,Land and Environmental Affairs from 2022 to 2024. She previously served as the Mpumalanga MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2021 to 2022,as the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature from 2019 to 2021 and as the MEC for Social Development from 2016 to 2019. Shiba is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).
Vusumuzi Robert Shongwe is a South African politician who is currently serving in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. He formerly served in the Executive Council in Mpumalanga province. Between September and November 2015,Shongwe served as acting Premier of Mpumalanga while Premier David Mabuza was on sick leave. He is a member of the African National Congress and was formerly treasurer of the party's provincial executive committee in Mpumalanga,previously the chairperson of the ANC in the Gert Sibande region.
Leonah Lindiwe Ntshalintshali is a South African politician who has been Deputy Minister of Correctional Services and a member of the National Assembly of South Africa since July 2024,representing the African National Congress. She was previously Mpumalanga's Member of the Executive Council for Arts,Sports,Culture and Recreation from 2019 to 2021 before serving as the MEC for Social Development from 2021 until 2024. Ntshalintshali was Mayor of Witbank's Emalahleni Local Municipality from 2015 to 2018.
Tsietsi Peter Nyoni is a South African politician and a member of the African National Congress (ANC) who currently serves as the Deputy Director-General for the Mpumalanga Provincial Government. He previously served as one of the executive directors for the Mpumalanga Human Settlements Department until he was removed in 2013 from the position by then Premier David Mabuza. He was appointed to head the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in the province in August 2016 until February 2020 when current Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane made him the provincial government's Deputy Director-General.
Mandla Jeffrey Msibi is a South African politician and educator who has been a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since May 2019. He was the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from May 2019 to February 2021,theMEC for Agriculture,Rural Development,Land and Environmental Affairs from February 2021 until his dismissal in October 2021 and the MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs from October 2022 until June 2024. Prior to serving in the legislature,he was the speaker and a councillor in the Mbombela Local Municipality. Msibi is a member of the African National Congress.
Gillion Pudumo Mashego is a South African politician who served as the Mpumalanga MEC for Public Works,Roads and Transport from July 2018 until February 2021. He has been a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature for the African National Congress since May 2014. He was the provincial Health MEC from May 2014 until July 2018.
Petrus Simon "Pat" Ngomane is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,he was elected to the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature in May 2014. He served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Community Safety,Security and Liaison from August 2016 until May 2019,when he was appointed MEC for Finance,Economic Development and Tourism. Ngomane served in the position until an executive council reshuffle in February 2021.
