Mbombela is a city in northeastern South Africa. It is the capital of the Mpumalanga province. Located on the Crocodile River,Mbombela lies about 110 km (68 mi) by road west of the Mozambique border,330 km (210 mi) east of Johannesburg and 82 km (51 mi) north of the Eswatini border. Mbombela was one of the host cities of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
There have been a number of political assassinations in post-apartheid South Africa. In 2013 it was reported that there had been more than 450 political assassinations in the province of KwaZulu-Natal since the end of apartheid in 1994. In July 2013 the Daily Maverick reported that there had been "59 political murders in the last five years". In August 2016 it was reported that there had been at least twenty political assassinations in the run up to the local government elections on the 3rd of August that year,most of them in KwaZulu-Natal.

She was elected to serve on the ANC's provincial executive committee (PEC) in December 2015 from the position of provincial African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) secretary. Manzini served as the MEC for the provincial Department of Public Works,Roads and Transport from August 2016 to July 2018. She has been a member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since February 2016.
Yvonne Nkwenkwezi "Pinky" Phosa is a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly for the African National Congress from 2014 until 2019. She was the chairperson of parliament's Standing Committee on Appropriations from 2016 until 2019. Before her election to Parliament,she served in the Mpumalanga provincial government. Phosa is the wife of former ANC treasurer-general and previous Mpumalanga premier Mathews Phosa.

The Lekwa Local Municipality is a Local Municipality in Mpumalanga,South Africa. The council consists of thirty members elected by mixed-member proportional representation. Fifteen councillors are elected by first-past-the-post voting in fifteen wards,while the remaining fifteen are chosen from party lists so that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received. In the election of 1 November 2021 the African National Congress (ANC) lost its majority,winning thirteen seats.
The 55th National Conference of the African National Congress (ANC) is scheduled to take place from 16 to 20 December 2022 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec,Gauteng. The conference will elect the party's 80-member National Executive Committee and its so-called Top Six leaders,including president. It will also adopt resolutions on the party's governance and policy positions,in the latter case with consideration of the outcomes of the ANC's 6th National Policy Conference,held in late July 2022.
The step-aside rule is an internal policy of the African National Congress (ANC),the ruling party of South Africa,which requires members charged with corruption or other serious crimes voluntarily to "step aside" from participation in party and government activities,or face suspension. Since its adoption in 2017 at the ANC's 54th National Conference,it has led to the suspension of several ANC members,most prominently ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule. In 2022,it has been applied to prohibit affected members from standing in internal leadership elections.
