The pair skating competition of the 2010 Winter Olympics was held at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The short program was held on February 14, 2010 and the free skating was held on February 15, 2010.

Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo (CHN) won the gold medal. This was the first time since 1960 that a Russian, Soviet, or Unified Team (CIS) flagged team did not win the gold medal. [1]

The ISU Judging System, occasionally referred to as the Code of Points (COP) system, is the scoring system that has been used since 2004 to judge the figure skating disciplines of men's and ladies' singles, pair skating, ice dance, and synchronized skating. It was designed and implemented by the International Skating Union (ISU), the ruling body of the sport.

The 2007 World Figure Skating Championships was a senior international figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The event was held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan from March 20 to 25.

The 2005 Trophée Éric Bompard was the fourth event of six in the 2005–06 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Palais Omnisports Paris Bercy in Paris on November 17–20. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2005–06 Grand Prix Final. The compulsory dance was the Ravensburger Waltz.

Heinz-Ulrich Walther is a German former pair skater who represented East Germany and the United Team of Germany in competition. With Heidemarie Steiner, he is the 1970 World bronze medalist and a three-time European bronze medalist. Walther competed at two Winter Olympics, placing 11th in 1964 with Brigitte Wokoeck and fourth with Steiner in 1968.

The 1976 World Figure Skating Championships were held at the Scandinavium in Göteborg, Sweden from 2 to 7 March. At the event, sanctioned by the International Skating Union, medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.

The ladies' single skating competition of the 2010 Winter Olympics was held at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The short program was held on February 23, 2010 and the free skating was held on February 25, 2010. Yuna Kim from South Korea won the gold medal setting three world best scores. Mao Asada from Japan became the first lady to accomplish one triple Axel during the short program and two during the free program at the Olympics.

The event also determined the number of entries for each country at the 2018 World Championships and the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The 2019 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Saitama, Japan, from March 18–24, 2019.

The pair skating competition in figure skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 18 February and 19 February, at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Haidian District of Beijing. Sui Wenjing / Han Cong of China, the 2018 silver medalists, won the event. Evgenia Tarasova / Vladimir Morozov, representing the Russian Olympic Committee, won silver, and Anastasia Mishina / Aleksandr Galliamov, also of ROC, bronze.
