FlyArystan is a low-cost airline headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan. [3] It is the country's first low cost carrier. [4] The company slogan is Say YES! to Travel. [5] [6]

It is the wholly owned low cost subsidiary of Air Astana. [7] The airline commenced operations in May 2019 [8] and operates a comprehensive network of low fare flights on a modern fleet of A320 aircraft. Its route network includes both domestic flights as well as international routes. [9]

History

FlyArystan's sales commenced on 29 March 2019 on its website. [10] [11] The airline flew its first flights on 1 May 2019 with services from its hub airport, Almaty International Airport. [8]

Peter Foster, President and CEO of Air Astana, was quoted at a press conference in Almaty on 6 November 2018 as saying that FlyArystan is “on the one hand a response to demand for lower airfares in a more competitive local market, on the other, a recognition of the huge opportunity for low cost air travel throughout Central Asia and the Caucasus”. Awards

In November 2022 FlyArystan was recognised as a 4-star airline by SkyTrax. [9] FlyArystan is one of only 12 LCCs to be assessed as 4-star quality.[ citation needed ]

In July 2023 FlyArystan was voted "Best LCC Central Asia & CIS" by SkyTrax. [13]

FlyArystan is Kazakhstan's largest domestic airline, offering more flights and more seats than any other airline.[ citation needed ] As of September 2023 the route network includes 24 destinations, including 14 domestic and 10 International. [2] FlyArystan has 5 aircraft bases: Almaty, Astana, Atyrau, Aqtau and Şymkent.[ citation needed ]

FlyArystan commenced international flights in 2019 and since then it offers flights from multiple points in Kazakhstan.[ citation needed ] As of October 2023 besides the airline serves flights to destinations in Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, India, [15] Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, [16] Tajikistan, Turkey [17] and Uzbekistan. [18] [19]

FlyArystan operates a standardised fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft with a 180 seat layout. FlyArystan's A320neos have a 188 seat layout to maximise seat capacity in line with LCC principles. [20]

Fleet development

FlyArystan placed a letter of intent at the Dubai Airshow 2019 for 30 Boeing 737 MAX 8s [23] which was not put into an actual order as yet.

In December 2022 it was reported that FlyArystan plans to grow its fleet to 19 planes by the end of 2023.[ citation needed ]

Air Astana is an airline and the flag carrier of Kazakhstan. Based in Almaty, the airline was founded by the Government of Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund Samruk Kazyna (51%) and BAE Systems (49%) and commenced operations on 15 May 2002. In February 2024 it became a dual listed company, being listed on the Kazakhstan and London stock exchanges. It is the largest airline in Central Asia and the Caucasus region with 69% and 40% of market share on domestic and intra-regional routes from Kazakhstan.

Ural Airlines is an airline based in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia, that operates scheduled and chartered domestic and international flights out of Koltsovo International Airport. In 2018, the company transported nine million passengers.

Jazeera Airways K.S.C is a Kuwaiti low-cost airline with its head office on the grounds of Kuwait International Airport in Al Farwaniyah Governorate, Kuwait. It operates scheduled services in the Middle East, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Europe. Its main base is Kuwait International Airport. The airline has grown since its launch to become Kuwait's second national airline. Jazeera Airways is one of the largest operators at Kuwait airport, having handled a quarter of all aircraft movements and passengers at the airport during July 2009. JetSMART Airlines SpA, stylized as JetSMART, is a South American ultra low-cost carrier created by US investment fund Indigo Partners, which also controls low-cost carriers like US airline Frontier Airlines, Mexico's Volaris and Hungary's Wizz Air. JetSmart's primary base of operations is Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, servicing Santiago, Chile. It also owns and manages JetSmart Argentina, an Argentine subsidiary with a base at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires. The airline commenced scheduled operations on 25 July 2017 with a service from Santiago to Calama. Its CEO and founder is Estuardo Ortiz Porras.
