Fontem is a sub division in the Lebialem division of Cameroon. Consisting of three Fondoms, Lebang, the biggest, Essoh Etah and Fotabong III. Its headquarters is at Menji. It is located in the South West Region. It is west of Dschang and Bafoussam.
Fontem and the surrounding areas are home to the Bangwa people [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] (one of the Lebialem tribes).

It is the site of Mary Health of Africa Mission Hospital. Mary Health of Africa Hospital is a 120-bed hospital that also has an extensive outpatient service and runs a dispensary in nearby Fonjumetaw. It specializes in treating infectious tropical conditions, especially malaria, sleeping sickness, TB, typhoid fever, and HIV. [6]
Fontem is home to several primary and secondary schools.

Aba is a city in southeastern Nigeria and the commercial centre of Abia State. Upon the creation of Abia State in 1991, the old Aba township was divided into two local government areas, being Aba South and Aba North, while the suburban neighborhood of what was then known as Obioma Ngwa L.G.A. was divided into three L.G.A.s for administrative convenience. Aba South is the main city centre of Aba and Abia State at large, being located on the Aba River. Aba is made up of many villages such as Aba-Ukwu, Eziukwu-Aba, Obuda-Aba, Umuokpoji-Aba and other villages that have been merged for administrative convenience. Aba was established by the Ngwa clan of the Igbo people in Nigeria as a market town. Later, a military post was placed there by the British colonial administration in 1901. It lies along the west bank of the Aba River and is at the intersection of roads leading to Port Harcourt, Owerri, Umuahia, Ikot Ekpene, and Ikot-Abasi. The city became a collection point for agricultural products following construction of a British-made railway running through it to Port Harcourt. Aba is a major urban settlement and commercial centre in its region, which is surrounded by small villages and towns. The indigenous people of Aba are the Ngwa. Aba is well known for its craftsmen and is the most populous city in southeastern Nigeria. As of 2016, Aba had an estimated population of 2,534,265, making it the biggest city in South Eastern Nigeria.
Cameroon is a Central African nation on the Gulf of Guinea. Bantu speakers were among the first groups to settle Cameroon, followed by the Muslim Fulani until German domination in 1884. After World War I, the French took over 80% of the area, and the British 20%. After World War II, self-government was granted, and in 1972, a unitary republic was formed out of East and West Cameroon. Until 1976 there were two separate education systems, French and English, which did not merge seamlessly. French is now considered the primary language of instruction. Local languages are generally not taught as there are too many, and choosing between them would raise further issues.

A Fon is a chieftain or king of a region of Cameroon, especially among the Ngie, Widikum, Tikar, and Bamiléké peoples of the Bamenda grass fields and the Lebialem of the South West Region. Following the defeat of Germany in World War I, the Fons of British Cameroon came under British rule, and the Fons of French Cameroon came under French rule. Since Cameroon's independence in 1961, the Fons are under the jurisdiction of the Government of Cameroon. However, they maintain semi-autonomous union councils and jurisdiction over their hereditary land.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kumbo is a Roman Catholic diocese in the Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda in Cameroon. The first German settlers were Missionaries of the Sacred Heart who arrived in 1912 and established their mission in 1913. The Diocese of Kumbo was erected by Pope John Paul II on Thursday, 18 March 1982, with territory taken from the then Diocese of Bamenda. It is a suffragan diocese of the Metropolitan See of Bamenda along with the Roman Catholic Dioceses of Buea, Kumba, and Mamfe.

Lebialem is a department of Southwest Region in Cameroon. The Division covers an area of 617 km2 and as of 2005 had a total population of 113,736. The capital of the department lies at Menji. Lebialem got its name from the Lebialem Falls, a twin water fall, which means ' a hill from which water drops '. The Division is dominated by two ethnic groups, the Mundani to the north and the Bangwa to the south, though other ethnic groups exists, the makeup a minority, example the Mbo, Banyangi and Bamiléké.
