Forsvarets spesialstyrker (English: Norwegian Special Operations Command (NORSOCOM)) is a unit in the Norwegian Armed Forces with overall responsibility for the special forces.
The unit was established on 1 January 2014 and consists of the Naval Special Operations Commando (MJK) and the Special Operations Commando (FSK). In addition, 339 Special Operations Aviation Squadron (from the Royal Norwegian Air Force) is operationally under the command of the NORSOCOM. [2]
NORSOCOM were created as an operational unit to replace the special operations department in the Defense Staff. [3]
The two units (FSK and MJK) in NORSOCOM have tasks related to national military preparedness, as well as international operations. They can, upon request, assist civil authorities in domestic counterterrorist operations. [4]
The unit's management and staff are based at Akershus Fortress in Oslo, while Marinejegerkommandoen is based at Haakonsvern Naval Base in Bergen and Forsvarets spesialkommando is based at Camp Rena, eastern Norway, though both units have several training facilities across the country.

The Norwegian Home Guard is the rapid mobilization force within the Norwegian armed forces. Its main focus is local defense and civil support, but it can also detach volunteers for international operations. Its main tasks are safeguarding territorial integrity, strengthening military presence, and protecting important infrastructure.
Brigade Nord is the major combat formation and only brigade of the Norwegian Army, consisting of eight battalions and one military police company. It is mostly based in Troms north of the Arctic Circle.
The Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) is the air force of Norway. It was established as a separate arm of the Norwegian Armed Forces on 10 November 1944. The RNoAF's peacetime establishment is approximately 2,430 employees. 600 personnel also serve their draft period in the RNoAF. After mobilization, the RNoAF would consist of approximately 5,500 personnel.

Hærens Jegerkommando (HJK) was a special forces unit of the Norwegian military. It was the armed forces competence centre for commando, airborne and counter terrorist duty in the Norwegian Army. Its headquarters were located 30 kilometres north of Elverum in the southeast of Norway, at Rena leir military base. In 2006, the unit was merged with Forsvarets Spesialkommando/Special Operations Commando.

Minedykkerkommandoen (MDK) or Norwegian Naval EOD Command is a clearance diver group. MDK is subordinate to the Royal Norwegian Navy. MDK is located at Haakonsvern Naval Base in Bergen and Ramsund Naval Base, in vicinity of Harstad.
Task Force K-Bar, originally the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-South (CJSOTF-South), was led by the United States and composed of special operations forces from seven countries. It undertook the first major ground deployment in the War in Afghanistan (2001–2021), operating from October 2001 to April 2002.

Kystjegerkommandoen is a unit in the Royal Norwegian Navy. KJK is a marine commando unit trained to operate in littoral combat theatres, filling the role of marines and coastal artillery.
The Norwegian Joint Headquarters, NJHQ is the Norwegian Armed Forces operational commando-center. It is located at Reitan in Bodø Municipality, where during the Cold War NATO's Allied Command North Norway was based. The current organization was created on 1 August 2009, replacing a former joint commando center in Stavanger Municipality, which merged with the Northern Norway Command. It is led by chief-of-command, Lieutenant general, Yngve Odlo. His predecessor was Rune Jakobsen.

HNoMS Maud is a replenishment oiler constructed at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea. She was built on behalf of the Norwegian Defense Materials Agency Forsvarsmateriell, for service in the Royal Norwegian Navy.
The Special Forces Command is a command in the Swedish Armed Forces charged with overseeing the various special operations components. Its organized to be able to command operations of Swedish special forces units, but also to be able to develop units, capabilities and equipment. The Special Forces Command is part of the Joint Forces Command.
Eirik Johan Kristoffersen is a Norwegian Army General who serves as the head of the Norwegian Armed Forces. He is a former Chief of the Norwegian Army and Norwegian Home Guard, and Chief of the Armed Forces' Special Command (FSK). Kristoffersen is the first Norwegian Chief of Defence since World War II with battle experience. He was awarded the War Cross with Sword in 2011 for his service in Afghanistan.
