The Consulate General of France in Atlanta is the French diplomatic outpost to the U.S Southeast. Its jurisdiction covers the states of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The mission of the Consulate is to provide protection and administrative services to French citizens living or traveling within the region. It also seeks to promote French-American cooperation and exchange. [1] It is one of the ten consulates of the French diplomatic network in the United States. [2]

Location

Previously located in the Prominence in Buckhead building, the Consulate General of France in Atlanta moved to the 5th floor of Buckhead Towers at Lenox Square in Buckhead on May 17, 2010. The building can be found at the intersection of Lenox Road and E. Paces Ferry Road NE, behind Lenox Mall and adjacent to the J.W. Marriott Hotel.

The space was inaugurated on June 30, 2010 as the "Maison de France" complex. At that time, it also included the French-American Chamber of Commerce of Atlanta, the French Trade Commission-Ubifrance, and the Atlanta-Accueil association. As of summer 2021, the space is exclusively occupied by the Consulate.

The first French Consul arrived in Atlanta in 1989, and as of 2021, there have been nine French Consuls:

In 2010, the Consulate and the Georgia Institute of Technology launched France-Atlanta, with the purpose of breathing new life into the French-American relationship in the U.S. Southeast. The inaugural edition featured 20 events attended by over 3,500 participants, including delegations from Paris and Metz, France.

Since then, the initiative has transformed into an annual, multidisciplinary affair featuring French and American business leaders, scientists, artists, and humanitarian experts. Through its programming, it seeks to showcase the best ideas and innovations on both sides of the Atlantic as well as to encourage partnerships between French and American scholars, artists and visionaries. Peachtree Street is one of several major streets running through the city of Atlanta. Beginning at Five Points in downtown Atlanta, it runs North through Midtown; a few blocks after entering into Buckhead, the name changes to Peachtree Road at Deering Road. The southeastern United States, also referred to as the American Southeast or simply the Southeast, is broadly the eastern portion of the southern United States and the southern portion of the eastern United States. It comprises at least a core of states on the lower East Coast of the United States and eastern Gulf Coast. Expansively, it includes everything south of the Mason–Dixon line, the Ohio River, the 36°30' parallel, and stretches far west as Arkansas and Louisiana. There is no official U.S. government definition of the region, though various agencies and departments use different definitions.

Buckhead is the uptown commercial and residential district of the city of Atlanta, Georgia, comprising approximately the northernmost fifth of the city. Buckhead is the third largest business district within the Atlanta city limits, behind Downtown and Midtown, a major commercial and financial center of the Southeast.

Lenox Square is a shopping mall located in the Buckhead district of Atlanta, Georgia. Lenox Square comprises 1,558,678 square feet (144,805.9 m2) of retail space, with 198 stores on four levels, including a large food court. The mall's anchor stores are Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, and Macy's. The mall has been owned by Indianapolis-based developer Simon Property Group since 1998, which also holds the neighboring Phipps Plaza shopping center.

The Embassy of France in Washington, D.C., is the French diplomatic mission to the United States.

Through much of the 19th century, Pace's Ferry was an important ferry across the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta. Started in the early 1830s near Peachtree Creek, it was run by Hardy Pace, one of the city's founders. It was an important transportation link to northwestern Georgia, especially prior to the construction of the State Road to Chattanooga.

The Alliance Center is a complex in Atlanta, Georgia. Its tallest building is the 478-foot, 40-floor Paramount at Buckhead. It also includes the 22-floor One Alliance Center, and the 30-floor Two Alliance Center.

Buckhead Atlanta, until May 2011 called Streets of Buckhead, is a 9-acre (3.6 ha) planned mixed-use development in the Buckhead district in Atlanta, Georgia. The project is a redevelopment of part of the Buckhead Village neighborhood bounded by Peachtree Rd., E. Paces Ferry Rd., Pharr Rd., and N. Fulton Drive. It is located just 1.3 miles (2.1 km) from two of the region's most prominent and upscale malls, Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza.

The Consulate General of France in San Francisco is a consular representation of the French Republic in the United States. Its jurisdiction covers Northern California, northern Nevada, and the following states: Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Pacific Islands under American jurisdiction. The consulate is currently located near the French quarter of San Francisco, on 88 Kearny Street.

Consular Agency of the United States, Bremen

The Consular Agency of the United States in Bremen, also referred to as Consular Agency Bremen, was one of the American diplomatic missions to Germany until 2018. The unit offers limited services for U.S. citizens in areas including Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and Lower Saxony. Despite that, services such as the issuing of visas or emergency passports are not provided, but can be obtained only from the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, the Consulate General in Frankfurt or Munich. It was the end of a diplomatic presence that the United States has in the city since 1794.

The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles is a diplomatic mission of the Republic of the Philippines in the United States, representing the country's interests in southern California. It is located on the fifth floor of the Equitable Life Building at 3435 Wilshire Boulevard in the Koreatown neighborhood of central Los Angeles, a couple of blocks north of the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools.
