Fuad Almuqtadir, popularly known as Fuad, is a Bangladeshi American composer and arranger. [1] [2] [3]
Fuad was born on 6 August 1980 in Chittagong [4] [5] and left Bangladesh to New York city with his family in 1988. [6] He grew up with the non-resident Bangladeshi community of New York City where he learned about Bangladeshi culture and music. [7]
Fuad's first full-length album was the self-released Maya in 1998. His next album, Re/Evolution, was released by Aarshi Records in 2003. [8] Variation #25 came in 2005. [4] The album was released to the general public at the end of Nestle’s campaign, where it sold another 2 million copies. 2006 saw FM radio coming to Bangladesh, and Fuad’s music was played in heavy rotation by Radio Foorti. He released Bonno in 2007. From 2015-2017, Fuad was the music director for Radio Foorti. [4] [9]
Fuad composed the official theme song of the 2014 ICC World Twenty20, titled “Char Chokka Hoi Hoi”. [10] [11] [12] In 2023, he composed the song “Dewana” for Coke Studio Bangla Season 2. [13] [14]
Fuad comes from a family engaged in the health care business in New York City, United States. [15] He married Maya in 2011. The couple has one daughter, Azalea, born on February 4, 2016. [16] In 2018, Fuad was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and recovered in 2019. [17] [15]
