Furqan Qamar is a former vice-chancellor of University of Rajasthan and first vice-chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier he was associated with Association of Indian Universities. [1] Professor Furqan Qamar,was the secretary general of the Association of Indian Universities,i.e. the principal executive officer of the largest and one of the oldest network of universities. [2] He has also served as advisor (education) in the Planning Commission of India. [3]
Essentially a Professor of Management,he has keen research interest in public policy,planning,administration and financing of higher education and has numerous publications in journals of repute to his credit. Professor Qamar has chaired and been members of a large number of committees,working groups at the national and international level. Professor Qamar,thus,brings with him academic eminence,leadership qualities and exposure to best global practices. [4]
Furqan Qamar is serving as Professor in CMS (Center for Management Studies).He has published 35 research papers and several Articles in National news papers Jamia Millia Islamia. [5] [6]

Jamia Millia Islamia is a public and research university located in Delhi,India. Originally established at Aligarh,United Provinces during the British Raj in 1920,it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by the University Grants Commission in 1962. Jamia Millia Islamia became a central university by an act of the Indian parliament which was passed on 26 December 1988.
Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari was an Indian nationalist and political leader,and former president of the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League during the Indian Independence Movement. He was one of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia University. He remained it's chancellor from 1928 to 1936.
Akhlaq Ur Rehman Kidwai was an Indian chemist and politician. He served as Governor of the states of Bihar,West Bengal and Haryana. Also,he worked as Governor of the state of Rajasthan. Central University of Himachal Pradesh is a central research university located in Dharamshala,Kangra,Himachal Pradesh,India. It is operating from a temporary campus at Shahpur,Kangra district,pending the construction of two permanent campuses,at Dehra and Dharamsala. The university was founded in 2009 as a result of the government's policy to establish Central Universities in each of the states that do not already have a central university. The Central University of Himachal Pradesh is established under the Central Universities Act 2009 enacted by the Parliament.
Riyaz Punjabi was a professor and vice chancellor at the University of Kashmir. He was granted the Padma Shri,one of India's highest civilian awards,in 2011. In 2008 he was granted an honorary professorship at the International University Vienna for his contribution in "Strengthening International Relations in the Sphere of Education". He also won the Amity Academic Excellence Award from Amity International Business School,in 2009,the Fazil Memorial Award in 2009,and the Adbi Markaz Kamraz award in 2010. He died on April 8,2021.
Syed I Ahson is a computer science professor,education management professional,researcher,and author. He specialises in multiple areas,including bioinformatics,computational biology,and Web 2.0. Ahson graduated from University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. He was a National Merit Scholarship Award,India (1959–1965). He also won a British Council Overseas Scholarship Award for Ph.D. (1973–1975). He later taught in Saudi Arabia and India. His recent posting was at Patna University,Bihar as pro-Vice chancellor. While there he enacted educational reforms amide political chaos and bureaucracy.
Mushtaq Ahmed Azmi,was a mass literacy expert. He was one of the first non-officials to be associated with the development of Adult Education program in India from the early 1950s,and was an early leader of the mass literacy movement. As an officer of UNESCO,he was posted in Africa and seconded to lead mass literacy programs in Nigeria and Zambia. He was offered a position in the UNESCO by the British diplomat and head of fundamental education at UNESCO John Bowers.
Talat Ahmad is an Indian Earth Scientist,former Professor at the Department of Geology,University of Delhi and served as Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Senior Scientist. He served as Chairman of Governing body which oversees Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology,Dehradun from 1 November 2021 onwards and served the office till 31 October 2027. Previously,he commenced his second stint as Vice-Chancellor of University of Kashmir on 6 August 2018 and served the office till 20 May 2022. Before that,he served as Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia,he resigned from the post a few months short of his full term. He was shortlisted by a committee constituted by the governor to shortlist a panel for the post. He had earlier taken over as Vice-Chancellor of University of Kashmir from Professor Riyaz Punjabi on 1 June 2011 and served there until the year 2014. Prior to this,he was teaching Geology at the University of Delhi.

Mansoor Hasan Khan,is an Indian cardiologist,known for his contributions towards the setting up of Lari Cardiology Centre at King George's Medical University,Lucknow. The Government of India honored Hasan in 2011,with the fourth highest civilian award of Padma Shri.
Mohammad Mujeeb (1902–1985) was an Indian writer of English and Urdu literature,educationist,scholar and the vice chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia,Delhi.
Muḥammad Ijteba Nadwi was an Indian Islamic scholar,who formerly headed the Arabic departments of Jamia Millia Islamia,Kashmir University and the Allahabad University.
Abdul Lateef Azmi was an Urdu litterateur and among the close associates of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia. He joined Jamia Millia as a student of B.A. in 1936 and served the university over 50 years in various capacities. He was one of the longest serving editors of Jamia Millia's official magazine,Jamia. He died in Delhi on May 11,2002. In 1985,Maktaba Jamia,New Delhi,published a book Abdul Lateef Azmi Hayat-o-Khidmat. Several scholars contributed chapters in the book on various facets of Abdul Lateef Azmi and his life.
Mazhar Asif is an Indian academic administrator and scholar,with a focus on Indian mediaeval history and Sufism. He has been serving as the vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia since 24 October 2024. An alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University,he has formerly served as a professor at his alma mater,and as a member of the drafting committee for National Education Policy 2020.
