Amar Singh Chamkila was an Indian singer and musician of Punjabi music. Chamkila's vivid language, high-pitched vocals, and novel compositions accompanied by tumbi made him popular. His music was influenced by the Punjabi village life in which he grew up. On 8 March 1988, at the height of his popularity during the insurgency in Punjab, India, Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot were killed along with two members of their band in an assassination which remains unsolved.

Deep Jandu is a Canadian music producer, recording artist, composer and songwriter associated with Punjabi music. He is founder and CEO of record label Royal Music Gang. Jandu released his debut album Nach in 2011. His song "Daru Daru" was well received by the audience. Gurinderbir Singh Gill is an Indian-born Canadian rapper-singer associated with Punjabi music. Moosetape is the second studio album by Indian singer, rapper and songwriter Sidhu Moose Wala, released independently on 15 May 2021. Moose Wala served as the executive producer. Writing was handled by Sidhu dominantly among other artists, while the tracks were produced by The Kidd, Steel Banglez, Snappy, Wazir Patar, and JB.
