Gajendra Verma (born April 20, 1990) is an Indian singer, songwriter, music composer, and sound engineer, known for his contributions to the Indian pop music industry. [2] [3] His debut single, "Emptiness (Tune Mere Jaana)," gained attention in 2010-11, which helped establish his presence as an independent artist in India. [4] [5] Verma has since released several other tracks, including "Phir Suna," "Mann Mera," "Ik Kahani," and "Tera Ghata." [6] [7] [8]

Early life

Verma was born in Sirsa, Haryana, and raised in Jaipur, Rajasthan. [9] His father, Surender Verma, is a poet and lyricist, which influenced his early exposure to music and writing. [2] He began performing at the age of four and learned to play instruments such as the harmonium and guitar. [10] Verma later pursued sound engineering, enabling him to produce much of his own music. [11] [12]

Career

2010: “Emptiness – Tune Mere Jaana" Released

Verma's initial breakthrough came with the release of "Emptiness (Tune Mere Jaana)" in 2010. [13] The song, which was associated with a fictional story, became widely circulated online. Following this, he released several tracks, including "Phir Suna," "Mann Mera," and "Ik Kahani." [10] [14]

2018: "Tera Ghata" Gains Attention

Verma released the song "Tera Ghata," which became popular, accumulating a significant number of views on YouTube. The song’s theme dealt with moving on after heartbreak, and it resonated with listeners in India and other countries such as Pakistan, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates. [6] [15]

2021: Launch of “Summary” web series

Verma launched "Summary," a musical web series that combines music with visual storytelling. Each episode featured a song linked to a larger narrative. This project marked a different approach in his career.

2024: Upcoming Project “Good Vibes”

His upcoming album, "Good Vibes Only," is scheduled for release in 2024. It will include eight tracks, along with accompanying music videos.

Verma is also expected to perform across several cities in India as part of the "Good Vibes Only" tour, which will feature live performances. [16]

<i>Dunki</i> (soundtrack) 2023 soundtrack album by Pritam and Shekhar Ravjiani

Dunki is the soundtrack to the 2023 film of the same name directed by Rajkumar Hirani and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani amongst several others.
