Vindhya Pradesh was a former state of India. It occupied an area of 61,131.5 km2. It was created in 1948 as Union of Baghelkhand and Bundelkhand States,shortly after Indian independence,from the territories of the princely states in the eastern portion of the former Central India Agency. It was named as Vindhya Pradesh on 25 January 1950 after the Vindhya Range,which runs through the centre of the province. The capital of the state was the former princely state of Rewa. It lay between Uttar Pradesh to the north and Madhya Pradesh to the south,and the enclave of Datia,which lay a short distance to the west,was surrounded by the state of Madhya Bharat.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan is an Indian politician who is serving as the 32nd Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and 23rd Minister of Rural Development since 11 June 2024. He was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 2020 to 2023 and previously from 2005 to 2018 and a Member of Legislative Assembly in Madhya Pradesh from Budhni since 2006 to 2024 and previously from 1990 to 1991. Chouhan is the longest serving Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

In 2019,he changed his constituency and was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from Morena.

Bal Krishna Sharma,known under the pen name Naveen,was an Indian freedom activist,journalist,politician and a poet of Hindi literature. He was a member of the 1st Lok Sabha,representing Kanpur constituency and served the Rajya Sabha as a member from 1957 till his death. He succeeded Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi as the editor of Pratap daily and also served as a member of the Official Languages Commission. His poetry anthologies include Kumkum,Rashmirekha,Apalak,Kwasi,Vinoba Stavan,Urmila and Hum Vishpaee Janam Ke,the last one published posthumously. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan,in 1960,for his contributions to literature. India Post issued a commemorative stamp on Sharma in 1989.

His son Siddarth Sukhlal Kushwaha was elected as Member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Satna Assembly constituency,which comes under his Lok Sabha constituency.
