Garry Bruce West (born 19 January 1949) is an Australian politician. He was a National Party Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1976 to 1995,representing the electorate of Orange. He held several Ministerial positions in the Nick Greiner and then John Fahey Liberal-National coalition Government.
West was educated at Canobolas Public School and Orange High School in Orange,New South Wales. [1]
West was one of the early members of the NSW Branch of the Young Australian Country Party,later to become the Young Nationals (Australia)-NSW,elected as State Chairman (1972–1973) and Federal Chairman (1973–1976). [1] [2]
Following the retirement of Sir Charles Cutler,West,aged 27 years,sought and gained endorsement as the Country Party candidate for the seat of Orange and was elected at a by-election held on 14 February 1976 in a three-corned contest between the Country,Liberal and Labor parties after being forced to preferences. [3] Less than three months later,West was reelected at the 1976 State elections,despite the Liberal-National coalition losing to Neville Wran's Labor Party. West was re-elected at the 1978,1981,1984,1988,1991 and 1995 State elections.
West served as Shadow Minister for Sport,Recreation and Tourism (1984) and Shadow Minister for Housing (1981–1984). In the Greiner-Murray Liberal-National Government,West was appointed to the following:
After the defeat of the Liberal-National coalition government in 1995,Garry West resigned causing a by-election. [1] Subsequently,Russell Turner of the National Party was elected.
John Joseph Fahey AC was an Australian politician who served as Premier of New South Wales from 1992 to 1995 and as the federal Minister for Finance from 1996 to 2001. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1984 to 1996 and the federal House of Representatives from 1996 to 2001. Fahey also served as president of the World Anti-Doping Agency and later became chancellor of the Australian Catholic University.

The Electoral district of Wakehurst is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It covers a significant part of Sydney's Northern Beaches as well as parts of the Forest District. Created in 1962,it has been won by the Liberal Party at all but two elections over the last half-century.
Elections to the 51st Parliament of New South Wales were held on Saturday 25 March 1995. All seats in the Legislative Assembly and half the seats in the Legislative Council were up for election. The minority Liberal Party-led Coalition government of Premier John Fahey was defeated by the Labor Party,led by Opposition Leader Bob Carr. Jillian Gell Skinner is an Australian politician who was the New South Wales Minister for Health in the Baird government. Skinner was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing North Shore for the Liberal Party from 1994 to 2017 and was the Deputy Leader of the New South Wales Liberal Party from 2007 to 2014. Between 2011 and 2015 Skinner also served as the Minister for Medical Research. On 27 January 2017,Skinner announced her intention to resign from the ministry and from Parliament.

Terry Alan Metherell is a former Australian politician who represented the Electoral district of Davidson in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1981 to 1992. When the Liberal Party won the 1988 election,Premier Nick Greiner appointed him Minister for Education and Youth Affairs,a portfolio he held until 1990. In October 1991,he resigned from the Liberal party and remained in Parliament until his resignation to take up an offer of a public service job. This offer led to the downfall of Greiner,who was found to have corruptly offered the position to force a by-election in Metherell's district.

He briefly resigned from his roles with effect from 15 April 2020,however was reinstated on 3 July 2020.
David Amos Arblaster was a New South Wales politician,Minister for Culture,Sport and Recreation and Minister for Tourism in the cabinet of Sir Eric Willis until the Liberal party lost the 1976 election.
