General Manuel Serrano Airport (Spanish : Aeropuerto General Manuel Serrano) ( IATA : MCH, ICAO : SEMH) is a closed airport formerly serving Machala, the capital of El Oro Province in Ecuador.
The airport has been replaced by Coronel Artilleria Victor Larrea Airport in Santa Rosa, 19 kilometres (12 mi) to the south.
Machala is a city in south-west Ecuador. It is the capital of the El Oro Province, and is located near the Gulf of Guayaquil on fertile lowlands. Machala has a population of 241,606 ; it is the eighth-biggest city in the country, and the second-most important port. It has been referred to as the Banana Capital of the World.
The 1993 Copa América was the 36th Copa América, CONMEBOL's football tournament for national teams. It was held in Ecuador between 15 June and 4 July. All 10 CONMEBOL members took part, but for the first time two nations from outside CONMEBOL were invited to take part in the tournament, to round out the format. Mexico and the United States, both of CONCACAF, were the invited teams for this tournament. Argentina defeated Mexico in the final 2–1 to win their record 14th continental championship, also their last senior title until 2021.
Matilde Hidalgo de Procel was an Ecuadorian physician, poet, and activist. Matilde Hidalgo was the first woman to exercise the right to vote in Ecuador, and also the first to receive a Doctorate in Medicine. Hidalgo fought for the recognition of women's rights and is now known as one of the most important women in Ecuadorian history. At her young age, She mastered reading and writing skills as well as the piano. In 1973 she was paralyzed by a stroke, and she died in Guayaquil on February 20, 1974.
El Guabo is a town in El Oro, one of the provinces of Ecuador. It is the seat of El Guabo Canton. It is located a few kilometers from the provincial capital, Machala. The town has a bypass, so cars coming mainly from Guayaquil or Naranjal can drive towards Machala without passing it.

Estadio 9 de Mayo is a multi-use stadium in Machala, Ecuador. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Club Deportivo Audaz Octubrino and Fuerza Amarilla S.C. The stadium holds 16,500 spectators and opened in 1939.
