The first Genesis bike was produced under the Ridgeback brand as the Day One model in 2001. Due to its popularity, Genesis became a label in its own right in 2006.
In 2009 the original Croix De Fer was released.
In 2015 Madison Genesis win the Tour Series and by 2018 Connor Swift won the British road race championship on his Genesis Zero SL.
Over ten years the range expanded beyond commuter bikes to include road, mountain, cyclo-cross, gravel, kids and fat bikes.
Genesis bikes became renowned for their use of steel tubing and ethos for function over form.
The bikes have been designed by James Olsen (2005-2011), Dom Thomas (2011-2013) and Albert Steward (2013-2015).
In 2009 Genesis launched its most successful model, the Croix de Fer. The steel drop bar model, which could take wide tyres, guards and disc brakes was an early incarnation of the burgeoning gravel bike.
Its adventurous credentials were proven in 2010 as Vin Cox set the Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle. [1]
The Montane Icemen (Pete Sissons and Paul Cosgrove) underlined the bikes capabilities as they used a pair of Croix de Fers to circumnavigate the 1600-mile coastline of Iceland in 14 days.
In 2014, actor Harrison Ford was pictured riding a Croix de Fer in London, while filming for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. [2]
The popularity of the Croix de Fer was helped in part by Vin Cox using a Genesis Croix de Fer when claiming the Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle in 2010 [3]
In 2014, Genesis made its first production carbon fibre bike for the Madison Genesis road racing team [4] – the Zero was subsequently updated in September 2015, with a lower weight and improved fork. [5]

Merlin Metalworks, Inc. was a US company that pioneered in titanium bicycle design and construction. Centurion was a brand of bicycles created in 1969 by Mitchell (Mitch) M. Weiner and Junya (Cozy) Yamakoshi, who co-founded Western States Import Co. (WSI) in Canoga Park, California to design, specify, distribute and market the bicycles. The bikes themselves were manufactured initially in Japan by companies including H. Teams Company of Kobe and later in Taiwan by companies including Merida. The Centurion brand was consolidated with WSI's mountain bike brand DiamondBack in 1990. WSI ceased operations in 2000.
Panasonic Cycle Technology Co., Ltd., formerly Nashonaru Jitensha Kōgyō, is a producer of bicycles and cycling accessories. Motorcyclewheels are made to cope with radial and axial forces. They also provide a way of mounting other critical components such as the brakes, final drive and suspension. Wheels, and anything directly connected to them, are considered to be unsprung mass. Traditionally motorcycles used wire-spoked wheels with inner tubes and pneumatic tyres. Although cast wheels were first used on a motorcycle in 1927, it would not be until the 1970s that mainstream manufacturers would start to introduce cast wheels on their roadgoing motorcycles. Spoked wheels are usually made using steel spokes with steel or aluminium rims. Cast wheels are predominantly made from an aluminium-alloy, but can also be made from more-exotic materials, such as magnesium content alloy or carbon fibre.
Motorcycle braking systems have varied throughout time, as motorcycles evolved from bicycles with an engine attached, to the 220 mph (350 km/h) prototype motorcycles seen racing in MotoGP. Most systems work by converting kinetic energy into thermal energy (heat) by friction. On motorcycles, approximately 70% of the braking effort is performed by the front brake. This however can vary for individual motorcycles; longer-wheelbase types having more weight biased rearward, such as cruisers and tourers, can have a`greater effort applied by the rear brake. In contrast, sports bikes with a shorter wheelbase and more vertical fork geometry can tolerate higher front braking loads. For these reasons, motorcycles tend to have a vastly more powerful front brake compared to the rear.

The Salsa Cycles brand, along with its sister brands Surly Bikes and All-City Cycles, is owned by the Bloomington-based Quality Bicycle Products. The Salsa brand is widely recognized by winter biking enthusiasts in cold climates.
