Georgia Godwin (born 28 October 1997) [2] is an Australian artistic gymnast. She is the 2022 Commonwealth Games all-around and vault champion and the team, uneven bars and balance beam silver-medalist. She is also the 2018 Commonwealth Games all-around silver medalist and the team and uneven bars bronze medalist. [2] She represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was the third reserve for the all-around final. [3] She is also a two-time World Cup silver medalist.
Georgia Godwin was born on 28 October 1997 in Southport, Queensland. She has Japanese heritage on her mother's side of the family. [4] She began gymnastics when she was three years old, [5] and was also involved in tennis and athletics as a child. [6]
Godwin won the all-around titles at both the 2011 and 2012 Junior Australian Championships. [7] [5] She made her senior debut at the 2013 Australian Championships and finished third in the all-around, second on vault, fifth on the uneven bars, fourth on the balance beam, and first on the floor exercise. [8] She then made her international debut at the 2014 Nadia Comaneci Invitational and won the gold medal in the all-around and with the team. [9] She then competed at the 2014 City of Jesolo Trophy and finished fourth with the team and twenty-fourth in the all-around. [10] [11] She then won the gold medal in the all-around at the 2014 Australian Championships. [12] In the event finals, she finished third on the vault, sixth on the uneven bars, seventh on the balance beam, and second on the floor exercise. [13] [14] [15] [16] Her final competition of the 2014 season was the Élite Gym Massilia where she finished sixteenth in the all-around and sixth in the balance beam final. [17] [18]
Godwin defended her all-around title at the 2015 Australian Championships, and she also finished fourth on vault, third on the uneven bars, first on the balance beam, and sixth on the floor exercise. [19] She was selected to compete at the 2015 World Championships alongside Madelaine Leydin, Emily Little, Larrissa Miller, Mary-Anne Monckton, and Kiara Munteanu, and they finished fourteenth in the qualification round. At the 2016 Australian Championships, Godwin helped the Queensland team win the bronze medal. [21] She then finished sixth in the all-around final. [22] In the event finals, she won the bronze medal on the uneven bars behind Rianna Mizzen and Emily Whitehead, and she finished sixth on the balance beam and the floor exercise. [23] [24] [25] Then at the 2016 Élite Gym Massilia, she finished fifth on the floor exercise. [26]
At the 2017 Melbourne World Cup, Godwin won the silver medal on the floor exercise behind Emily Little. [27] Then at the 2017 World Championships, she qualified for the all-around final and finished thirteenth. [28] She then competed at the 2017 Toyota International and finished seventh on the vault and uneven bars, tenth on the balance beam, and sixth on the floor exercise. [29]
Godwin finished fourth on the vault at the 2018 Melbourne World Cup. [30] She was selected to represent Australia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games alongside Georgia-Rose Brown, Alexandra Eade, Rianna Mizzen, and Emily Whitehead, and they won the bronze medal in the team event behind England and Canada. In the all-around final, Godwin won the silver medal behind Ellie Black. [31] She then finished sixth in the vault final, and she won the bronze medal on the uneven bars behind Georgia-Mae Fenton and Brittany Rogers. [32] [33] Then at the 2018 Australian Championships, she won the gold medal in the all-around, on uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise, and she won the silver medal on vault. [34]
Godwin defended her all-around title at the Australian Championships, and she won the gold medals on vault and floor exercise, and she won the silver medal on the uneven bars. [35] Then at the FIT Challenge in Ghent, she won the bronze medal in the all-around behind Naomi Visser and Nina Derwael and the Australian team won the silver medal behind the Netherlands. [36] She won the gold medal in the all-around and on vault and floor exercise at the Australian Classic, and she also won the silver medals on the uneven bars and balance beam. [37] She was then selected to compete at the World Championships alongside Georgia-Rose Brown, Talia Folino, Kate McDonald, and Emma Nedov, and they finished thirteenth. [38] The team missed a team quota for the 2020 Olympics by one spot, but Godwin qualified for an individual spot because she finished in the top twenty of the eligible athletes. [39] She finished nineteenth in the all-around final. [40] After the World Championships, she competed at the Toyota International and finished fourth on vault and balance beam and sixth on uneven bars, and she won the silver medal on the floor exercise behind Lilia Akhaimova. At the 2020 Melbourne World Cup, Godwin won the silver medal on the uneven bars behind Ukrainian gymnast Diana Varinska. [42] She also placed fourth on the balance beam and seventh on the floor exercise. [43] [44] She then competed at the 2020 American Cup and finished sixth in the all-around. [45] She was initially scheduled to compete at the 2020 Tokyo World Cup; however, the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan. [46] [47]
Godwin swept the gold medals at the 2021 Australian National Championships. [48] At the 2020 Olympic Games, she finished thirty-seventh in the all-around during the qualification round with a total score of 52.865, and she was the third reserve for the all-around final. [3]
Godwin competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she won gold medals in the artistic individual all-around and vault and silver medals in the artistic team all-around, uneven bars and balance beam. [49]
At the Tel Aviv World Challenge Cup, Godwin won gold on vault and floor exercise, as well as silver on the uneven bars. [50] Additionally, she debuted a new element on the uneven bars, a Weiler-kip with full turn, which was named after her in the Code of Points. [51] Godwin next competed at the Osijek World Challenge Cup, where she won gold on vault, balance beam and floor exercise as well as silver on uneven bars behind Naomi Visser. [52] At the Paris World Challenge Cup, Godwin took the silver medal in the vault final behind Alexa Moreno. [53] Additionally, she finished fifth in both the uneven bars and balance beam finals. [54]
In November she had a gymnastics move officially named after her. [55]
In May Godwin sustained an Achilles injury and would be unable to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games. [56]

Lauren Stephanie Mitchell is an Australian former artistic gymnast. She is the 2010 World champion on the floor exercise and the 2009 World Championships silver medalist on the balance beam and floor exercise. Mitchell is only the second Australian female gymnast to win a medal at the World Championships, and she is the first to win a gold medal. She is the 2010 Commonwealth Games champion in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam, and with the Australian team, and she is the 2008 World Cup Final balance beam champion. She also represented Australia at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
Kim Bui is a retired German artistic gymnast. She represented Germany at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Games. She is the 2009 and 2014 German National Champion and the 2011 European bronze medalist on the uneven bars. In her final competition, she was part of the first German team to win a European team medal.
Rebeca Rodrigues de Andrade is a Brazilian artistic gymnast. Having won a total of six Olympic and nine World medals, she is the most decorated Brazilian and Latin American gymnast of all time, as well as the most decorated Brazilian Olympian in any discipline. In the all-around, she is the 2022 World champion, a two-time Olympic silver medalist, the 2023 World silver medalist, and the 2021 Pan American champion. On vault, she is the 2020 Olympic gold medalist, the 2024 Olympic silver medalist, a two-time World Champion, and the 2023 Pan American Games champion. In the floor exercise, she is the 2024 Olympic gold medalist, 2023 World silver medallist, and 2022 World bronze medallist. She led the Brazilian team to its first ever team medals at the 2023 World Championships (silver) and the 2024 Olympics (bronze), as well as the gold medal at the 2021 Pan American Championships.
Georgia-Rose Brown is an Australian artistic gymnast who currently represents New Zealand in international competition. She represented New Zealand at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Pauline Sieglinde Schäfer-Betz or Pauline Schäfer is a German artistic gymnast who represented Germany at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Summer Olympics. Elisa Hämmerle is an Austrian artistic gymnast. She represented Austria at the 2020 Summer Olympics and finished sixty-sixth in the all-around during the qualification round. She also represented Austria at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics and finished twelfth in the all-around final. She has won four medals on the FIG World Cup circuit, one silver and three bronze. At the 2020 European Championships, she became the first Austrian gymnast to qualify for an event final at the European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships when she finished eighth on the balance beam
Ana Filipa da Silva Martins is a retired Portuguese artistic gymnast who competed at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympic Games. She won a bronze medal at the 2015 Summer Universiade on the balance beam. She is the first Portuguese gymnast to win a World Cup gold medal.
Alice Nicole Kinsella is an English artistic gymnast and member of the British national gymnastics team. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the team event, and was part of the Great Britain team that achieved the highest positions ever achieved in the same event at the 2022 World Championships (silver) and the 2023 European Championships (gold). Kinsella won a Commonwealth Games team title as part of England's gold-winning team all-around squad of 2022.
Georgia-Mae Fenton is an English artistic gymnast and a member of both the British national gymnastics team and the England Commonwealth Games gymnastics squad. She is the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth champion on uneven bars, and a member of the gold medal-winning England team in 2022. With Great Britain, she was part of the team that won silver at both the 2022 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships and 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, before winning the gold medal, the first for a British women's team, at the 2023 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Barbora Mokošová is a Slovak artistic gymnast. She is the 2020 European bronze medalist on the uneven bars and the first gymnast representing Slovakia to receive a medal at the European Championships. She represented Slovakia at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. She is also a two-time World Challenge Cup champion on the uneven bars.
Emma Kathryn Mary Spence is a Canadian artistic gymnast. She represented Canada at the 2022 World Championships and won a bronze in the team event, their first team medal. She won bronze with the team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Individually she is the 2018 Youth Olympic bronze medallist on vault as well as the 2022 Commonwealth Games all-around and balance beam bronze medalist.
Csenge Mária Bácskay is a Hungarian artistic gymnast and the 2018 Youth Olympic silver medalist on vault. Additionally, she was a member of the team that won bronze at the 2020 European Championships. She represented Hungary at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Hitomi Hatakeda is a Japanese former artistic gymnast who competed at the 2020 Olympic Games. She is the 2019 Summer Universiade champion in the team, all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam. She is also the 2020 American Cup all-around bronze medalist.
Emily Whitehead is an Australian artistic gymnast. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, she won a bronze medal in the team event and on the vault. She represented Australia at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games and is a two-time Oceanic all-around champion (2021-22).
