Gerardo Werthein (born 3 December 1955) [1] is an Argentine businessman. He was the President of the Argentine Olympic Committee between 2009 and 2021. In 2011 he was elected to become a member of the International Olympic Committee. He became an Executive Board Member of the International Olympic Committee in 2020.He was born in Buenos Aires into a wealthy Jewish family coming from Russia at the beginning of 1900. Werthein got his start in business with an advantage, inheriting a multi-million dollar business. During his ternure as President of the Argentine Olympic Committee, Argentina he Chaired the Organization Committee of the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympics

In November 2023, President-elect Javier Milei announce the nomination of Werthein as Argentine Ambassador to United States. [2]
