He was the founder and leader of the Avanza Libertad coalition, and in 2023 he briefly became a member of Juntos por el Cambio. In 2024 he joined La Libertad Avanza.

It was founded in 2007 by Margarita Stolbizer as a split from the Radical Civic Union, in opposition to the UCR's endorsement of Roberto Lavagna's general election.
