Gheorghe Arpentin (born 9 June 1961) is a Moldovan politician.
He has been a member of the Parliament of Moldova since 2010. He is also co-owner of Les Terres Noires with Nicolas Dirand. Arpentin is one of the most well-known wine-makers and wine-growers in Moldova. He holds a Ph.D. in technical sciences and owns his own vineyards. Mr. Arpentin has taken wine-making classes in France,where he lived for some time. He founded a wine consulting business in 1997. Ten years later,Mr. Arpentin was elected to head the Oenologists' Union of Moldova. He is also a member of the main wine-makers' and wine-growers' association in the United States.
Moldova,officially the Republic of Moldova,is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe,on the northeastern corner of the Balkans. The country spans a total of 33,483 km2 (12,928 sq mi) and has a population of approximately 2.5 million as of January 2023. Moldova is bordered by Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north,east,and south. The unrecognised breakaway state of Transnistria lies across the Dniester river on the country's eastern border with Ukraine. Moldova is a unitary parliamentary representative democratic republic with its capital in Chișinău,the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre.

Albariño or Alvarinho is a variety of white wine grape grown in Galicia and in Northwest Portugal where it is also used to make varietal white wines. Albariño is the name for the grape in Galician. In Portugal it is known as Alvarinho,and sometimes as Cainho Branco.
Prosecco is an Italian DOC or DOCG white wine produced in a large area spanning nine provinces in the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions,and named after the village of Prosecco,in the province of Trieste,Italy. It is made from the Prosecco grape,but denomination rules allow up to 15% of the wine to be other permitted varieties. Prosecco is almost always made in sparkling or semi-sparkling style,but a still wine is also permitted. Within the larger designation are two small DOCG areas,Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco in the hills between the comuni (municipalities) of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene,and Asolo Prosecco around the nearby comune of Asolo. Prosecco Superiore is always spumante and comes only from these DOCG areas.

The Great French Wine Blight was a severe blight of the mid-19th century that destroyed many of the vineyards in France and laid waste to the wine industry. It was caused by an aphid that originated in North America and was carried across the Atlantic in the late 1850s. The actual genus of the aphid is still debated,although it is largely considered to have been a species of Daktulosphaira vitifoliae,commonly known as grape phylloxera. While France is considered to have been worst affected,the blight also did a great deal of damage to vineyards in other European countries.

Grower Champagnes or Artisan Champagnes are Champagnes produced by the estate that owns the vineyards where the grapes are grown. Récoltant-Manipulant is the term in French,and Grower Champagnes can be identified by "RM" on the wine label. While large Champagne houses such as Mumm,Moët et Chandon and Veuve Clicquot may use grapes from as many as 80 different vineyards in the Champagne region to create a consistent house style,Grower Champagnes tend to be more terroir-focused,sourced from a single vineyard or closely located vineyards around a village,and made with grapes which vary with each vintage. Today there are over 19,000 independent growers in the Champagne region,accounting for nearly 88% of vineyard land in the region;around 5,000 of these growers produce wine from their own grapes. Of the Champagne imported into the US in 2014,only 5% was Grower Champagne.

Moldova is an agrarian-industrial state,with agricultural land occupying 2,499,000 hectares in a total area of 3,384,600 hectares. It is estimated that 1,810,500 of these hectares are arable. Moldova is located in Eastern Europe,and is landlocked,bordering Romania and Ukraine. Moldova's agricultural sector benefits from a geographical proximity to large markets,namely the European Union. As a share of GDP,agriculture has declined from 56% in 1995 to 13.8% in 2013. Data from 2015 estimated that agriculture accounted for 12% of Moldova's GDP. Agriculture as a sector is export-oriented,with the composition of Moldova's total exports containing agriculture and the agri-food sector as a main component. 70% of agri-food exports in 2012 included beverages,edible fruits and nuts,oilseeds,vegetable preparations and cereals. Here,fruits,vegetables and nuts were attributed to 33% of Moldova's exports for 2011–2013. Moldova is also one of the top ten apple exporters in the world. However,because of the long-term emphasis on fruit,vegetables are often imported.

DiMatteo Vineyards is a winery located in Hammonton in Atlantic County,New Jersey. Formerly a family produce farm,the vineyard was first planted in 2000,and opened to the public in 2002. In 2010,the winery moved its headquarters to a new location in Hammonton. DiMatteo has 14 acres of grapes under cultivation,and produces 1,500 cases of wine per year. The winery is named after the family that owns it.
