"Give In to Me" is a song written by Billy Falcon, Rose Falcon, and Elisha Hoffman and recorded by American country pop singer Faith Hill for Country Strong , the soundtrack to the 2010 film of the same name. [1] The song was produced by Jay Joyce. It is the only track on the album to not be included in the film itself. [2] Despite not being released as a single, Hill's recording reached number 56 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2011 due to unsolicited airplay. [3]
An alternate version of the song was recorded by two of the film's stars, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester, for a companion album titled Country Strong (More Music from the Motion Picture). [4] Their rendition charted at 79 in the United States and at 94 in Canada from digital sales, and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in February 2014. [5]
"Give In to Me" is a country pop ballad written by Billy Falcon, Rose Falcon, and Elisha Hoffman. [2] [6] Produced by Jay Joyce, the original Faith Hill recording lasts for four minutes and eleven seconds. According to the digital sheet music published by Spirit One Music, "Give In to Me" was composed in the key of C Major with a one octave vocal range that spans from G3 to G4. [6] The song was set in common time to a tempo of 80 BPM. [6] Matthew Wilkening of Taste of Country described the song's instrumentation as "delicate guitar lines over a warm keyboard backdrop," and Hill's vocal performance on the song as "restrained" and "elegant." [7] "Give In to Me" features passionate lyrics that describe a deep form of love and intimacy. [7]
In a review of the film's soundtrack, The Mercury News praised "Give In to Me" for its storytelling, writing, "Faith Hill's slow boil on "Give In to Me" shows the pretenders what makes a great country music performance." [8] Meg Grant of AARP The Magazine likewise complimented the song's lyrical content, calling it "the best song to come out of Country Strong," in a review of the film itself. "Country's strength is, in fact, its honest and tender portrayal of human weakness," writes Grant, "something "Give In To Me" [sic] reveals, and something these filmmakers overlooked." [9] Matthew Wilkening of Taste of Country contrasted the song favorably to Hill's bombastic back catalogue, writing that "unlike those overdone Sunday Night Football theme songs, 'Give In to Me' is a tasteful, hushed mid-tempo song." [7]
Faith Hill's recording of "Give In to Me" debuted at number 60 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated January 15, 2011. [10] It reached a peak position of 56 when it re-entered on the chart dated February 12, 2011 and spent one additional week on the chart. [11]
Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester's recording of "Give In to Me" entered the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart at number 4 on the chart dated January 22, 2011. [12] It entered the Billboard Hot 100 the following week at 79, fuelled by a debut of 56 on the Digital Songs component sales chart. [13] [14] For the week of January 22, 2011, the song also entered the Heatseeker Songs chart at number 15. [15] It rose to its peak position of 5 on the following chart dated January 29, 2011. [16] Hedlund and Meester's version did not chart on Hot Country Songs, as the chart only tracked airplay at the time, but it did peak at number 7 on the Country Digital Songs sales chart in its second week, on the chart dated January 29, 2011. [17] Their rendition was certified Gold by RIAA on February 7, 2014, indicating digital sales of over 500,000 units. [5]

His films include Troy (2004), Friday Night Lights (2004), Four Brothers (2005), Eragon (2006), Death Sentence (2007), Tron: Legacy (2010), Country Strong (2010), On the Road (2012), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), Unbroken (2014), Pan (2015), Mudbound (2017) and Triple Frontier (2019).
Stephen Ellis Garrett, known professionally as Static Major was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer from Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the R&B trio Playa. He was a songwriter for several artists, including Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Pretty Ricky, and Destiny's Child.
Leighton Marissa Meester is an American actress, singer, and model. She is best known for her starring role as the devious socialite Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl on The CW (2007–2012). She has also appeared in films such as Killer Movie (2008), Country Strong (2010), The Roommate (2011), Monte Carlo (2011), The Oranges (2011) and The Judge (2014). Meester made her Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men (2014). She portrayed Angie D'Amato on the ABC sitcom Single Parents (2018–2020).
"There You'll Be" is a song by American country pop recording artist Faith Hill. The power ballad was first offered to Celine Dion, who turned it down because she did not want to record another romantic ballad for a soundtrack album. Written by Diane Warren, produced by Trevor Horn and Byron Gallimore, and orchestrated by David Campbell, the song was released on May 21, 2001, and was featured on the Pearl Harbor soundtrack. The track was also featured on Hill's greatest hits albums There You'll Be and The Hits. "There You'll Be" is about remembering deceased acquaintances and reminding oneself that they will always be with them.

Country Strong is a 2010 American drama film starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund, and Leighton Meester. The film, about an emotionally unstable country music star who attempts to resurrect her career, was directed and written by American filmmaker Shana Feste. It premiered in Nashville, Tennessee on November 8, 2010, and had a wide release in the United States on January 7, 2011. This is the second film in which McGraw and Hedlund have worked together, the first being Friday Night Lights in 2004. At the 83rd Academy Awards, the film was nominated for Best Original Song.

It is preceded by two singles: the title track, performed by the film's star Gwyneth Paltrow, which was released on July 26, 2010, and "A Little Bit Stronger", performed by Sara Evans and released on September 27, 2010. In addition to Paltrow, the film's co-stars Garrett Hedlund, Tim McGraw and Leighton Meester all sing on the soundtrack, which also features country music stars Lee Ann Womack, Hank Williams Jr., and Faith Hill, among others. The album has sold 479,000 copies in the US as of February 2013. A follow-up album Country Strong , was released on December 21, 2010, originally as digital download only. The second album has sold 36,349 in the US as of January 2011.
Cobra Starship was an American pop punk band, formed by Gabe Saporta in 2005. Other members are guitarist Ryland Blackinton, bassist Alex Suarez, drummer Nate Novarro, and keytarist Victoria Asher, all of whom provide backing vocals. The group released their debut album, While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets in 2006. "Snakes on a Plane ", is the debut single of dance rock band Cobra Starship from the soundtrack album Snakes on a Plane: The Album.
