Glen Norah is a high-density, working class suburb in southwest Harare, Zimbabwe.
The suburb borders with Glen View and Highfield mostly high density surbubs . Highfield is regarded to be where the fight for the liberation struggle began. Glen Norah is divided into three sections A, B and C, with A bordering with Glen View. Glen Norah C is along the High Glen Road towards Chitungwiza/Beatrice Road and also borders Highfield. Glen Norah B is in the middle of A and C.
Glen Norah has been the home of notable Zimbabweans including Stunner [ broken anchor ], Addington Dzingirai, Alexio Kawara, and Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga. It has been home to the deceased footballer George Shaya [Dynamos and Zimbabwe international], former Kaizer Chiefs soccer star Tinashe Nengomasha, and artists Simon Choper Chimbetu and Sulumani Chimbetu (Sungura).
Glen Norah is home to seven primary schools: Ruvheneko, Infill, Kudakwashe, Zuvarabuda, Shiriyedenga, Chembira, Glen Norah Seven, and Glen Norah Nine, all which offer kindergarten through grade seven. There are two public secondary schools in Glen Norah, with only Glen Norah One offering A-levels. St. Peter's Kubatana is also in Rockview which is a Glen Norah middle class density area, a work of the Jesuits which goes back to 1963 and includes a technical school.
Nearby, Glen View and Glen Norah both used to be a farm owned by a farmer known as Mr. Baxter. Glen Norah got its name from Norah, who was Baxter’s wife. ‘Glen’ is old English for a narrow valley. Used in conjunction, it became Norah’s valley while Glen View, on higher ground, gave the view of the valley. [1]
High Glen Road was part of the farm stretching down to the Mukuvisi River. The early inhabitants used to call the place KwaBhakasta. The farmhouse is at present-day St Peter's Kubatana school. The eucalyptus trees that now dominate the area were first planted during the area's farming days and today are colloquially known as Mapuranga, the place of wood. The park in Glen Norah was formerly a dam on the farm that until the mid-1960s when the farm was drained and developed into a residential area. Avondale is a residential suburb in north and northwest Harare, Zimbabwe, located about 3.5 kilometres (2 mi) north of Harare city centre and just west of Mount Pleasant. It is the earliest suburb established in Harare, having been laid out in 1903. Prior to becoming a suburb Avondale was a dairy farm and was named after Avondale, County Wicklow, Ireland the home of the 19th-century Irish politician Charles Stewart Parnell. Avondale was incorporated into Harare Municipality in 1934.

St. Peter's Kubatana is a private Catholic secondary school and vocational training centre, located in Glen Norah, Harare, Zimbabwe. The school was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1963.
Glen View is a high-density suburb that lies on the border of Harare Province and Mashonaland West. It split between the two provinces, with the larger part on Harare’s side and the remainder on Mashonaland West side under their governance of Zvimba Rural District. It is believed to have 160,000(6.4% of Harare’s population) people although the Zimstat says it has on 45,000 people. It shares boundaries with Budiriro on the North (4.341km), Glen Norah on the East(4.0km), South and West being Mashonaland West. It is divided into 8 parts namely Glen View 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 1 Extension and Riverside. It has around 15000 residential stands which ranges from 200sqm to 500sqm with most of them averaging 10 people per house.
Budiriro is a high-density suburb in the southwestern parts of Harare in Zimbabwe. It is the largest suburb by population in Harare and in Zimbabwe with about 90,000 people. There are about 30,000 houses but only two clinics and five elementary schools.
Herbert Thomas Gomba is a Zimbabwean politician who served as mayor of Harare from 2018 to 2020. He has been a member of the Harare City Council since 2008 representing Ward 27, which covers parts of the Glen Norah suburb. Gomba was elected and sworn in as mayor on 3 September 2018, but was recalled from the City Council on 14 August 2020 amid factional disputes within the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance. He was reelected to the City Council in a March 2022 by-election as a Citizens Coalition for Change candidate.
Highlands is an upper-middle income, residential suburb nestled between Borrowdale and Newlands in the east of Harare, best known as the home of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, and for its ethnic diversity, history, natural environment and splendid panoramic views of downtown Harare. Located in the 'Golden Triangle' of Harare, it is sometimes grouped in the inner east suburbs of Harare along with other suburbs such as Eastlea, Mandara or Greendale.
Milton Park is a densely populated, inner city, mixed use suburb just west of central Harare, Zimbabwe. Due to its density, diversity and character it is often compared to The Avenues, Belgravia, Greendale, Eastlea and Highlands. Separated from the CBD by the A1 highway east, is it is usually considered to be bounded to the south by Princes Road, to the north by Cork Road, to the west by Warren Hills Golf Club.
Glen Lorne is an affluent neighbourhood in northeast Harare, Zimbabwe. It was originally known as Glen Lorne farm or Enterprise valley, beyond the city limits. It is located north of downtown Harare and is one of highest and hilliest suburbs. It is also one of the wealthiest and most prestigious neighbourhoods in Zimbabwe. Glen Lorne has been ranked the best neighbourhood in the city to live in by the Mail & Guardian. It is known as the area where the city's 'old money' lives, and is home to some of Zimbabwe's wealthiest citizens including former vice president, Kembo Mohadi. It is often compared to its larger and more well-known neighbour, Borrowdale to the northwest.
Chisipite, colloquially known as Chisi is an affluent residential suburb in northeastern Harare, Zimbabwe. It is bordered by Enterprise Road to the north and Eastern road to the east, and Greendale to the south to Lewisam to the west. Begun in the mid 20th century as a planned garden suburb, it did not fully develop until after the Second World War.
Lewisam is an area in the northeastern suburbs of Harare, Zimbabwe. Together with more well known districts, such as Belgravia and adjoining Newlands, it forms part of the city's embassy row, home for example to the British ambassador's residence and the Italian embassy.
