Global Harbor (Chinese :环球港) is a large shopping mall in Shanghai, China. [1] It opened on 5 July 2013. [2]
Simplified Chinese characters are standardized Chinese characters prescribed in the Table of General Standard Chinese Characters for use in mainland China. A shopping mall is a modern, chiefly North American, term for a form of shopping precinct or shopping center, in which one or more buildings form a complex of shops representing merchandisers with interconnecting walkways that enable customers to walk from unit to unit. A shopping arcade is a specific type of shopping precinct which is usually distinguished in English for mall shopping by the fact that connecting walkways are not owned by a single proprietor and are in open air. Shopping malls in 2017 accounted for 8% of retailing space in the United States.
Shanghai is one of the four municipalities under the direct administration of the central government of the People's Republic of China, the largest city in China by population, and the second most populous city proper in the world, with a population of 24.18 million as of 2017. It is a global financial centre and transport hub, with the world's busiest container port. The mall is located at 3553 North Zhongshan Road, near Jinshajiang Road, in the Putuo District of Shanghai. [2] It is attached to Jinshajiang Road Station (on Shanghai Metro Line 3, Line 4, and Line 13) via an underground entrance. It has a floor area of 480,000 square meters. The shops are located on six levels (two of then basement levels), with an underground parking level below. Twin skyscrapers rise above the mall, which can be seen through the glass roof. In the evening they are lit with computer-controlled animated multi-coloured lighting on the surface of the outer walls.
Putuo District, is a municipal district of Shanghai Municipality, People's Republic of China. It covers an area of 54.83 km2 (21.17 sq mi). Putuo District borders Baoshan District to the north, Jing'an District to the east and south east, Changning District to the south west and Jiading District to the west.
A skyscraper is a continuously habitable high-rise building that has over 40 floors and is taller than approximately 150 m (492 ft). Historically, the term first referred to buildings with 10 to 20 floors in the 1880s. The definition shifted with advancing construction technology during the 20th century. Skyscrapers may host commercial offices or residential space, or both. East China Normal University is located close to the Global Harbor mall to the southwest. Beyond that southwest is Changfeng Park.
East China Normal University (ECNU) is a comprehensive public research university in Shanghai. It was formed in 1951 by the merger of the Great China University founded in 1924 and Kwang Hua University which had its ultimate origins in the St. John's College established in the city in 1879. Its original role was to train teachers for secondary and higher education, as suggested in the name "Normal", but very soon housed top-class researchers and evolved into an elite research-intensive university.
Changfeng Park is a landscaped park in the west of Shanghai, China. The size of the park is 364,000 square meters. It includes a large lake in the centre of the park. There are various facilities including a Sea Life aquarium and boating on the lake.
