Another much anticipated return to GU duties as Lavelle defies preconceived ideas and turns in a predictably unpredictable, gloriously eclectic beats-driven mix. There is a welcome, liberal use of his own UNKLE tracks and a starring role for Meat Katie too.
Global in scope and Underground in vibe, GU026 continues the path of the series into the farther reaches of the international dancefloor.
Unkle are a British musical outfit founded in 1992 by James Lavelle. Originally categorised as trip hop, the group once included producer DJ Shadow and have employed a variety of guest artists and producers.
Global Underground is a British record label and compilation series founded in 1996 by Andy Horsfield and James Todd. The label symbolised the international explosion of dance music during the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s and first manifesto for high-end DJs such as Tony De Vit, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Darren Emerson, James Lavelle, Carl Cox, and Solomun.
Timo Maas is a German DJ/producer and remixer whose career in electronic music spans well over 30 years. His remix of Azzido Da Bass's single, "Doom's Night" helped launch his career in 2000.
James Zabiela is a DJ and producer from Southampton, England. In his early years his signature style was a fusion of Breakbeat and Progressive House music; more recently, however, he is regarded as a Progressive House, Techno and Acid House DJ although his use of Breakbeat music is still key to some parts of his sets. He is known for his turntable skills, extensive use of loops and effects, and the use of Pioneer CDJ-2000s, EFX1000, RMX1000 as well as using Ableton Live with various controllers and sometimes an iPad.
Edit Music for a Film: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Reconstruction is a two-disc UNKLE remix album/sound collection mixing together various musical styles, movie soundbites and UNKLE production. This was done for the 'After Dark' event in the ICA, London. James Lavelle put together a mix of soundtracks from films that inspired him the most. As the album notes point out: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dune, Dog Day Afternoon, Kill Bill, Sexy Beast, Training Day, and Blade Runner amongst others.
Global Underground 003: Nick Warren, Live in Prague is a DJ mix album in the Global Underground series, compiled and mixed by Nick Warren. The set was recorded at a gig in Prague, Czech Republic. This is the second and last live recording in the Global Underground series. The subsequent albums are studio recordings inspired by the live sets in the featured cities.

It was released on 9 November 1998 through the label Boxed in the UK, and Thrive in the US, where the release was numbered 003. "Hale Bopp" is omitted, reducing the number of tracks on the US version to 26.

James Lavelle is an English electronic musician, record label owner and curator. He founded the Mo'Wax record label in 1992, and has been the only constant member of UNKLE. He directed the 2014 edition of the Meltdown festival on London's South Bank, and curated the 2016 exhibition "Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick" at Somerset House. He was the subject of 2018 documentary film The Man From Mo'Wax.

The album is mainly breaks and trip hop, which is far different from the progressive house of other albums in the Global Underground series. The album reached #19 on the Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart.

The compilation reached the Billboard #1 Top Electronic Albums, #20 Independent Albums, and #29 Top Heatseekers. The release also has two Afterhours mixes, each mixed by Sharam and Dubfire individually.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats? is an UNKLE soundscape DJ mix, originally recorded for Radio Ape in Japan, Do Androids Dream Of Electric Beats was the first in a line of a series of UNKLESounds mixes. Due to its huge success it was bootlegged and can now be found in most record stores. The simple way to tell the difference between the two is that the bootleg has a barcode.
Self Defence: Never, Never, Land Reconstructed and Bonus Beats is a remix album by Unkle, released in 2006 by Global Underground. Spanning four discs, it is a compilation of remixes of tracks from the album Never, Never, Land, and also contains remixes of a track featuring Ian Astbury from the then-upcoming UNKLE album War Stories.

Heavy Drug is an EP released by British electronic music act Unkle. According to James Lavelle, the track was born during a late night session, when he and his brother, Adian Lavelle, were working on serveal remix projects, which resulted in what they called a "happy accident". The track was reworked during the sessions for Where Did the Night Fall set for release in May 2010. A remix was made during the recording, entitled the Surrender Sounds Mix, which was featured on James Lavelle's Global Underground 037: Bangkok, and was officially released on 16 August. It was delayed in USA, due to distribution errors, and was finally released on 28 August 2009.
Elliott Omar Power-Taiwo, simply known as Elliott Power, is an English recording artist and director born and raised in West London. Power released his debut single Sink/Swim in 2013 on Marathon Artists. His debut album Once Smitten was released in 2016 as a Marathon Artists and Mo' Wax collaboration. In 2015 The Elliott Power songs Sword Souls and On The Windrush were remixed by UNKLE and featured on Global Underground #GU41: James Lavelle Presents UNKLE Sounds - Naples compilation.
