Dorud is a city in and capital of Dorud County, Lorestan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 159,026 in 23,596 families. The name Dorud means "where two rivers meet", where "Do" means two, and "rud" means river. Dorud is one of the cities of Lorestan province and the capital city of Dorud. Dorud is the third most populous city of Lorestan and the eighth largest Iranian city after the Khorramabad city. According to the census of 2016, the Iranian Statistics Center has reported 174,508 people. Dorud is located in the range of the Zagros Mountains and beside Oshtanokh.Two branches of the river Dez are one of the north and one of the east in Dorud.
