Golden Threads Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Kochi, Kerala, that plays in Kerala Premier League, the top division football league in the state of Kerala. [1] They have also played in the I-League Second Division. [2] [3]

History

Golden Threads Football Club were formed on 10 April 2010, in Ernakulam, to compete in the Kerala Premier League. [4] After achieving success in the regional league, they got the chance to play in the national level competition, ONGC I-League Division 2. [5]

They have won the Cochin Premier League multiple times. [6] They won the 2021–22 Kerala Premier League after defeating KSEB in the final and qualified for the I-League 2nd Division. [7]

The reserve team of the Blasters most recently competes in the Kerala Premier League, the top division of Kerala football and the RF Development League. The club's youth system consists of three teams, Under-17, Under-15 and Under-13 age groups that competes in their respective age divisions of the Ernakulam District Youth League. Meanwhile, Kannur City FC withdrew mid-way throughout the tournament due to some technical issues. Kerala Blasters FC beat Gokulam Kerala F.C. in the finals and lifted their first KPL Title.

The 2020–21 Kerala Premier League season was the eighth season of the Kerala Premier League. The season featured 12 teams which was divided into 2 groups and were played on a home-and-away format. The season was originally scheduled to start in 2020, but was postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19 Pandemic. It began on 6 March 2021 across two centralised venues in Thrissur and Kochi. This season, Kerala Football Association decided to add two more participants into the league. KSEB and BASCO were the new entrants into the league.
