Gregory Gattuso (born May 18, 1962) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach at the University at Albany, taking over from long-time head coach Bob Ford. He was formerly the defensive line coach at the University of Maryland, under head coach Randy Edsall, a position he assumed in January 2011. [1] Gattuso served as the head coach at Duquesne University from 1993 to 2004, compiling a record of 97–32. From 2005 to 2010, he was an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Albany Great Danes football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the University at Albany located in the U.S. state of New York. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as a member of CAA Football, the legally separate football league administered by the multi-sports Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). The 2013 season was the Great Danes' first in CAA Football, following a 14-year tenure in the Northeast Conference. Ten years later, they won their first-ever CAA championship, sharing the title with Villanova and Richmond.

The 2021 Albany Great Danes football team represented the University at Albany, SUNY as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) during the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by eighth-year head coach Greg Gattuso, the Great Danes compiled an overall record of 2–9 with a mark of 1–7 in conference play, placing last out of 12 teams in the CAA. The team played home games at Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium in Albany, New York.
