Guilty Pleasure is the fourth extended play (EP) by American singer JoJo Siwa, released on July 12, 2024, via Columbia Records. It is her first EP following her Nickelodeon departure. The project consists of five songs and was preceded by the release of the lead single, "Karma". The title track was released as the EP's second single coinciding with its release. The EP has received mixed to negative reviews from critics and fans, criticising the production, lack of artistic direction, songwriting and Siwa’s vocal performance, many accusing Siwa of using artificial intelligence and it failed to chart in any known territory. Background and release

In a post to her Instagram on June 30, Siwa revealed that she would release her debut EP, titled Guilty Pleasure, on July 12 via Columbia Records. The caption read: [3]

Get the f*** ready. Guilty Pleasure (Song & Official Music Video) coming in 13 days, That's not it ... There's actually 5 songs coming your way in 13 days. Guilty Pleasure my debut EP is available everywhere July 12th!!! The countdown is on.

Composition and lyrics

The album is predominantly dance-pop, EDM, and electropop, evoking nostalgic sounds from 2012. [4] [5] [6]

Artwork

The artwork shows the singer in a high ponytail, wearing wraparound shades and jewels down the center of her face. [3]

Controversy

Fans of the rock band Tool heavily criticized Siwa and accused her of stealing the band's "wrench design" for her own merch for the EP. [7] [8]

Timothy Lawrence Nelson, known professionally as Karma Fields and TimFromTheHouse, is an American musician, DJ, and record producer from Santa Barbara, California, currently based in Los Angeles.

"Karma" or "Karma's a Bitch" is a song written by Antonina Armato, Tim James, and Desmond Child in 2011; two versions were released by American singers JoJo Siwa and Brit Smith in April 2024 to differing reviews. Primarily a dance-pop record, the song was originally written for Miley Cyrus, who scrapped the record after contractual conflicts with Disney. It was recorded by Smith in 2012 and was intended to be her debut single, but it was shelved.

"Guilty Pleasure" is a song by American singer JoJo Siwa taken from Siwa's fourth studio EP, Guilty Pleasure. She wrote the track with six other writers, most notably Meghan Trainor, and three of them also produced the song, together with DJ White Shadow. Columbia Records released the song as a single concurrently with its parent album on July 12, 2024.
