Cedar Park, Texas City in Texas, United States

Cedar Park is a city in Williamson County in the state of Texas. The population was 48,937 at the 2010 census. According to the U.S. Census, the city's estimated population as of July 2017 was 75,226. A small portion of the city extends into neighboring Travis County. The city is a major suburb of Austin, the center of which is approximately 16 miles (26 km) to the southeast.

Originally named the Cedar Park Center, the arena is home to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League, the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League and the Austin Acoustic of the Legends Football League. [2] [3] [4]

The Texas Stars are an American Hockey League team in Cedar Park, Texas, near Austin with home games at the H-E-B Center. They are owned by the NHL's Dallas Stars, and are that team's top affiliate.

American Hockey League ice hockey league in the United States

The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Twenty-seven AHL teams are located in the United States and the remaining four are in Canada. The league offices are located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and its current president is David Andrews.

Austin Spurs basketball team

The Austin Spurs are an American basketball team of the NBA G League based in Cedar Park, Texas. The team plays their home games at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. The team has made the postseason in 8 out of their 14 seasons in the NBA Development League.

The 8,700-seat sports arena is located at the corner of 183A and New Hope Road in Cedar Park, Texas.

The 183A Toll Road or 183A is a toll road in the Austin metropolitan area of the U.S. state of Texas. The road includes sections in north Austin, Cedar Park, and Leander. It provides a bypass for U.S. Route 183. The road is owned and operated by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority. The 183A Toll road is electronic only and has no cash toll booths. Motorists driving without a toll tag will receive a bill in the mail payable within 30 days. The tolled portion of the highway runs from US 183 near SH-45 to Ranch Road 1431 in Cedar Park. A free portion runs back to US-183 north of Leander, Texas along what will become free frontage roads.

The city of Cedar Park owns the arena, which is operated by Texas Stars L.P., a division of Northland Properties, the owner of the Dallas Stars and Texas Stars. [5]

Northland Properties

Northland Properties Corporation is the parent company of multiple hotel chains, restaurants, sports teams, and Northland Asset Management Company. Northland was founded in 1963 and is owned by the Gaglardi family. Bob Gaglardi is the founder and Chairman of the Board and Tom Gaglardi is President of Northland Properties Corporation.

History

Construction began in 2008 [6] , at a cost of $55 million, and the new arena was officially opened in September 2009. [7] Various local groups led construction efforts. [8] [9] [10] The building's first event took place on September 25, 2009, featuring country music artist George Strait. [11]

George Strait American country music singer

George Harvey Strait Sr. is an American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer. George Strait is known as the "King of Country" and is considered one of the most influential and popular recording artists of all time. He is known for his neotraditionalist country style, cowboy look, and being one of the first and main country artists to bring country music back to its roots and away from the pop country era in the 1980s.

On April 22, 2016, it was announced that H-E-B had acquired the naming rights for the Cedar Park Center, and renamed the facility to H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. [12]

Events

On February 18, 2011, the center hosted a Strikeforce MMA televised event, known as ShoMMA 14, with Lyle Beerbohm vs. Pat Healy headlining the show. [13]

On November 11, 2018, Ozuna performed in the arena during his Aura Tour and sold over 3,000 tickets grossing over $300 thousand.

2300 Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena used primarily for professional wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts, and concert events. Located in South Philadelphia under an elevated stretch of Interstate 95, it is named after its address at 2300 South Swanson Street.

Cedar Park High School (CPHS) is a high school in Cedar Park, Texas; it was established in 1998 to serve as the second high school in the Leander Independent School District. The school was built due to the rapid growth in the area.

Austin Convention Center

The Neal Kocurek Memorial Austin Convention Center is a multi-purpose convention center located in Austin, Texas. The building is the home of the Texas Rollergirls, and was also home to the Austin Toros basketball team, until their move to the Cedar Park Center in nearby Cedar Park in 2010. The facility is also the primary "home base" for the internationally renowned South by Southwest technology, music and film conference/festival, held annually in March.

Construction officially began on March 7, 2007, and the arena was opened on October 18, 2008. BOK Center

The BOK Center, or Bank of Oklahoma Center, is a 19,199-seat multi-purpose arena and a primary indoor sports and event venue in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. Designed to accommodate arena football, hockey, basketball, concerts, and similar events, the facility was built at a cost of $178 million in public funds and $18 million in privately funded upgrades. Ground was broken on August 31, 2005 and a ribbon-cutting ceremony involving Tulsa musicians Garth Brooks and Hanson took place on August 30, 2008. Canyon Creek is a residential neighborhood located in far northwest Austin, Texas. The neighborhood is located in ZIP Code 78726 and is bordered by Farm To Market 2222 (FM2222) on the south, Ranch Road 620 North (RR620) on the west, Anderson Mill Road on the north, and a major headwater tributary of Bull Creek to the east as well as the Balcones Canyonland Preserve. The preserve gives the neighborhood of over 1300 homes a semi-rural feeling despite being less than four miles to major shopping and employment centers. The major bisecting road is Boulder Lane, which winds its way through the picturesque, upper-middle-class neighborhood of single-family homes. Boulder Lane is a loop, and crosses RR620 in two places. The neighborhood is approximately 5 miles from Lake Travis and Lake Austin. Ranch Road 620 runs into the new toll roads of State Highway 45 at Lakeline Mall. Fast ways to get downtown is by taking 620 to 183 and going south. Another fast route is taking 620 to 2222 and then onto 360 to the left or the right. Left will take you to Gateway Theater on 183 and right will take you out to southern Austin and that is also a good route to the airport and San Antonio.

Lakeline Mall is a super-regional shopping mall located in north Austin, Texas, at the intersection of RR 620 and US 183. Although the mall has a Cedar Park postal code, it is physically within the City of Austin. It has 1,097,799 square feet (101,988.9 m2) of gross leasable area. Construction was initially slated to begin in the 1980s but was stalled due to the savings and loan crisis and later stalled due to the discovery of two endangered species on the proposed site.

The year 2011 is the 6th year in the history of Strikeforce, a mixed martial arts promotion based in the United States. In 2011 Strikeforce held 16 events beginning with, Strikeforce Challengers: Woodley vs. Saffiedine.

The Austin Acoustic is a women's American football team based in Austin, Texas. The Acoustic is a member franchise of the Legends Football League. They play their home games at H-E-B Center in the Austin suburb of Cedar Park, Texas.
