HD 215497 c is an extrasolar planet which orbits the G-type main sequence star HD 215497, located approximately 142 light years away in the constellation Tucana. This planet has at least one-thirds the mass of Jupiter and takes 568 days to orbit the star at a semimajor axis of 1.282 AU. [1] This planet was detected by HARPS on October 19, 2009, together with 29 other planets, including HD 215497 b.
Tucana is a constellation of stars in the southern sky, named after the toucan, a South American bird. It is one of twelve constellations conceived in the late sixteenth century by Petrus Plancius from the observations of Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman. Tucana first appeared on a 35-centimetre-diameter (14 in) celestial globe published in 1598 in Amsterdam by Plancius and Jodocus Hondius and was depicted in Johann Bayer's star atlas Uranometria of 1603. French explorer and astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille gave its stars Bayer designations in 1756. The constellations Tucana, Grus, Phoenix and Pavo are collectively known as the "Southern Birds".
79 Ceti, also known as HD 16141, is a binary star system located 123 light-years from the Sun in the southern constellation of Cetus. It has an apparent visual magnitude of +6.83, which puts it below the normal limit for visibility with the average naked eye. The star is drifting closer to the Earth with a heliocentric radial velocity of −51 km/s.
HD 125612 is a binary star system with three exoplanetary companions in the equatorial constellation of Virgo. It is too dim to be visible to the naked eye, having an apparent visual magnitude of 8.31. The system is located at a distance of 188 light years from the Sun based on parallax measurements, but it is drifting closer with a radial velocity of −18 km/s.
HD 40307 b is an extrasolar planet orbiting the star HD 40307, located 42 light-years away in the direction of the southern constellation Pictor. The planet was discovered by the radial velocity method, using the European Southern Observatory's HARPS apparatus, in June 2008. It is the second smallest of the planets orbiting the star, after HD 40307 e. The planet is of interest as this star has relatively low metallicity, supporting a hypothesis that different metallicities in protostars determine what kind of planets they will form.
HD 40307 d is an extrasolar planet orbiting the star HD 40307, located 42 light-years from Earth in the direction of the southern constellation Pictor. The planet was discovered by the radial velocity method, using the HARPS apparatus in June 2008. It is the most massive of the six proposed planets in the system. The planet is of interest as this star has relatively low metallicity, supporting a hypothesis that different metallicities in protostars determine what kind of planets they will form.
HD 5388 is a single star in the southern constellation of Phoenix. It has the Gould designation 78 G. Phoenicis, while HD 5388 is the star's Henry Draper Catalogue identifier. This object has a yellow-white hue and is too faint to be readily visible to average human eyesight, having an apparent visual magnitude of 6.73. It is located at a separation of 173 light years from the Sun based on parallax, and is drifting further away with a radial velocity of +39 km/s.
HD 181720 is an 8th-magnitude G-type main sequence star located approximately 190 light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius. This star is larger, hotter, brighter and less massive than the Sun. Also its metal content is three-tenths as much as the Sun.

This planet has at least three-eighths the mass of Jupiter and takes over two and five-eighths years to orbit the star at a semimajor axis of 1.78 AU with an eccentricity of 0.26. This planet was detected by HARPS on October 19, 2009, together with 29 other planets.

This planet is at least three times more massive than Jupiter and takes 13 years and four-and-a-half months to orbit the star at a semimajor axis of 5.5 AU with an eccentricity of 0.57. This planet was detected by HARPS on October 19, 2009, together with 29 other planets.
HD 28254 is an 8th magnitude G-type main sequence star located 180 light years away in the constellation Dorado. This star is larger, cooler, brighter, and more massive than the Sun, and its metal content is 2.3 times as much as the Sun. In 2009, a gas giant planet was found in orbit around the star.

HD 215497 is a single star in the southern constellation of Tucana. It has an orange hue with an apparent visual magnitude of 8.96, which is too dim to be viewed with the naked eye. A 2015 survey ruled out the existence of any stellar companions at projected distances from 26 to 300 astronomical units. Based on parallax measurements, it is located at a distance of 132 light years from the Sun. The star is drifting further away with a radial velocity of +49 km/s, having come as close as 45 light-years some 774,000 years ago. The absolute magnitude of this star is 5.77.
HD 215497 b is an extrasolar planet which orbits the K-type main sequence star HD 215497, located approximately 142 light years away in the constellation Tucana. This planet has at least 6.6 times the mass of Earth. This planet was detected by HARPS on October 19, 2009, together with 29 other planets, including HD 215497 c.
HD 125612 c is an extrasolar planet which orbits the G-type main sequence star HD 125612, located approximately 188 light years away in the constellation Virgo. The discovery of this planet was announced by the HARPS team on October 19, 2009, together with 31 other planets, including HD 125612 d.
HD 113538 is a star with two planetary companions in the southern constellation of Centaurus. It is much too faint to be viewed with the naked eye at an apparent visual magnitude of 9.05. The distance to this star is 53 light years and it is drifting further away with a radial velocity of +39 km/s.

HD 40307 g is an exoplanet candidate suspected to be orbiting in the habitable zone of HD 40307. It is located 42 light-years away in the direction of the southern constellation Pictor. The planet was discovered by the radial velocity method, using the European Southern Observatory's HARPS apparatus by a team of astronomers led by Mikko Tuomi at the University of Hertfordshire and Guillem Anglada-Escude of the University of Göttingen, Germany.

It has an apparent visual magnitude of 6.51, which puts it below the limit that can be seen with the naked eye by a typical observer. Based upon parallax measurements, this star is around 83 light years away from the Sun. It is drifting further away with a radial velocity of 12.8 km/s.
