Haiku the Robot (stylized as Haiku, the Robot) is a 2022 metroidvania game developed and published by Mister Morris Games. It was released on April 28, 2022 for Microsoft Windows and macOS, and for Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. [2]
Haiku the Robot is a 2D side-scrolling metroidvania. Players control a robot named Haiku, as he fights through a ruined world populated by robots corrupted through a computer virus. [3] Haiku can attack using a sword, pass through enemies by dashing, and jump. As Haiku kills foes, he collects scrap metal, which Haiku can spend immediately to restore his health, or save to buy power-ups at shops. [4] [5] Whenever Haiku dies, he loses all obtained scrap metal; However, he can buy a certain item that allows him to store the scrap metal at a vault when needed. [4] Haiku can also equip a limited number of "chips" that give him new abilities and powers, such as greater health or an improvement to his sword. Chips can be bought at shops, with the player also able to buy "slots" that increase the number of chips Haiku is able to equip. [3]
According to review aggregate website Metacritic, Haiku the Robot received "generally favorable reviews" for its Switch version. [6] Commentators frequently drew comparisons between Haiku the Robot and the 2017 metroidvania game Hollow Knight . [3] [7] [8] Nintendo World Report liked the currency system with scrap metal, but disliked that the world gave few objectives that the player could work towards, and felt as though the sword attack was boring. [5] The reviewer for Kotaku said that Haiku the Robot was one of the best Metroidvania game that he had ever played, and praised the low difficulty, art style, and music. [3]

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a 2017 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. Set at the end of the Zelda timeline, the player controls an amnesiac Link as he sets out to save Princess Zelda and prevent Calamity Ganon from destroying the world. Players explore the open world of Hyrule while they collect items and complete objectives such as puzzles or side quests. Breath of the Wild's world is unstructured and encourages exploration and experimentation; the story can be completed in a nonlinear fashion.
Xeodrifter is a Metroidvania video game developed by Renegade Kid. The game was first released for Nintendo 3DS and Microsoft Windows in 2014. A Wii U port of the game was released 2015, and after Gambitious Digital Entertainment acquired the rights to the Microsoft Windows version of the game, it was also released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2015. A Nintendo Switch version was released in February 2018.
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is a 2018 platform game developed by Game Atelier and published by FDG Entertainment. Hollow Knight is a 2017 Metroidvania video game developed and published by independent developer, Team Cherry. The player controls the Knight, an insectoid warrior exploring Hallownest, a fallen kingdom plagued by a supernatural disease. The game is set in diverse subterranean locations, featuring friendly and hostile insectoid characters and numerous bosses. Players have the opportunity to unlock new abilities as they explore each location, along with pieces of lore and flavour text that are spread throughout the kingdom.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a single-player 2D platform action-adventure metroidvania video game developed and published by Image & Form. It is the fourth installment in the SteamWorld series of games and the direct sequel to 2013's SteamWorld Dig. It was first released in September 2017 for Nintendo Switch, Linux, macOS, Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. However, the scope of the project grew enough that on 14 February 2019 Team Cherry announced that Silksong would be a complete sequel to Hollow Knight.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch is a 2021 metroidvania video game developed by TiGames and published by Bilibili. It was released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on September 7, 2021, followed by a Windows port on October 3, 2021. The game launched on the Nintendo Switch in July 2022. It also released for Xbox Series X/S in June 2023. The game follows Rayton, an anthropomorphic rabbit and former ace pilot who, using a giant mechanical fist, rises up against the robotic Legion that has invaded Torch City in an effort to liberate it from its oppressors. The game received positive reviews from critics, citing its graphics, world and gameplay.
Unsighted is a 2021 indie video game developed by Studio Pixel Punk and published by Humble Games for the Nintendo Switch, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PS4. The game is a Metroidvania adventure game in which the player and all non-player characters exist within a time limit, with the player required to find and allocate 'meteor dust' to characters to maintain their survival. The game was designed by Brazilian developers Fernanda Dias and Tiani Pixel, who cited the Metroid and Legend of Zelda series as influential to the design of the game. Upon release, Unsighted received generally favorable reviews, with critics praising the innovation of the game's use of time as a narrative and gameplay mechanic, its visual presentation, and combat.

The game follows the young Duke Alcedor, who finds his village overrun by monsters upon returning from the Crusades. Infernax received generally favorable reviews. An update to the game, Deux or Die, was released on April 5, 2023, in which another player can join in as Cervul the Squire.

The game is set in the post-apocalyptic future of 21XX, following a war that nearly kills off the human race. A robot army rules the world, and attempt to destroy the remnants of humanity. The game follows a resistance group who fights back against them. Players can control two different characters: Mavra, a human resistance soldier, and Doyle, a robot reprogrammed to fight for the resistance.
Kunai is an action-platform video game developed by TurtleBlaze and published by The Arcade Crew. The game was released on February 6, 2020 for Windows and Nintendo Switch. In the game, the player controls Tabby, a robot tasked with defeating Lemonkus, an AI that nearly causes the extinction of humanity. In July 2020, The Arcade Crew partnered with Limited Run Games to release physical copies of the Nintendo Switch version. The physical copies were released in October 2020. The PC version received generally favorable reviews, while the Nintendo Switch version received mixed reviews.
